Can the US franchise of Toms Hardware now be trusted?

The US franchise of Toms Hardware recently published an article entitled "just Buy it" rather bizarrely advising their readers to just go out and buy nVidia's new cards before they have been tested, clearly shilling on behalf of nVidia.

Gamers Nexus has been contacted by other franchise holders and editors complaining they felt this damaged the reputation of the brand overall and with it their franchise.

Others like the German franchise want it made public that they made reviews on AMD's RX Vega for the US franchise that never got published, other franchises like this are afraid that AMD probably knowing what's going might become or are already unwilling to work with anyone from Toms Hardware.
Those other franchise holders are even being banned from the US forum voicing their concerns.

In the past couple of years AMD have been treated pretty badly by Toms Hardware, some of you may remember, for example making a massive issue about the fact that the RX 480 pulled more than 75 Watts out of the PICe and hyperbolical screaming this will destroy the motherboard, which is a complete nonsense and they ignored the PCIe only powered GTX 1050TI doing exactly the same thing in a previous review.

Personally i have thought Toms Hardware nVidia shills for a few years now, but at least i'm not alone in that thinking now and its not just Toms Hardware and its not just bias with one brand of GPU's.

Just Buy It: Why Nvidia RTX GPUs Are Worth the Money

Don't forget Tom's Hardware best hardware.
They selected 7700K as the best CPU and the most future proof one, while Ryzen was out and until 8700K came out. :P

Tech sites are run like entertainment outlets. They take money, freebies and timed exclusive scoops in return for following review guides... I used to like Linus Tech Tips but now every episode is an infomercial and their infrequent oddball shows are fairly predictable

I'm surprised to see so many in agreement on this. I used to love Toms, but I stopped going there regularly over a decade ago. Last time I looked it was like a big advertorial. The only place more biased is LinusTech. I have his channel blocked on YouTube as otherwise it completely fills my search list. Nails down a blackboard are less annoying than that man. Someone give him his Ritalin.

I like how they make out getting a 1080ti would be sacrificing great 4k performance. The 1080ti is a beast at 4k plus they don't even kmow how the 2080ti performs.

Yeah, being funded by donations is as clean as you can get in terms of bias.

Absolutely. I recall a video by Stephen in response to a Twitter post or comment that suggested they are paid to attend events or something similar. He was clearly angered by the suggestion and clearly outlined their business model and how they are trying to move away from all industry sponsorship entirely. He also simply stated if he was in it for the money he'd work directly in a typical job in his field and earn far more. I trust GN more than any other site at this point.

As for Tom's they were never a go to (always disliked the layout) and I haven't visited the site for anything other than troubleshooting advice on their forum.

The last time I remember visiting Tom's a lot may have been 2006/7 with the Athlon 64 X2 series. They were good from 2000 - 06/07.

I honestly hold wccf in higher regard than Toms and that is going some. At least Wccf break new rumors. You have to treat them as completely unsubstantiated but they do often start me on a trail that leads somewhere.

Take Jim Anderson resigning, I actually heard it first from wccf - but then went to the actually press release from the company he is joining and his personal linkedin to ratify what I was being told.

The only thing that Tom's is still good for is large overall group tests - but I treat those exactly the same as wccf, I would never trust them as a source.
