you win the euro millions tonight: your shopping list.

Buy a nice house locally, not a mansion or anything silly like that, and maybe a couple of nice cars. Other than that I'd retire and enjoy lots of nice holidays, see the world etc in the comfort that I'll be financially secure for life.

I think you do get some in Scotland coming onto the market every so often.

If you're able to work remotely and you're happy not being in a hot country then buying an island certainly doesn't need to involve winning the euromillions, as you've found out re: Canada you can get one relatively cheaply. I've seen Scottish Islands go for less than the cost of my London flat too.

Here is one in Finland complete with buildings which perhaps might be less hassle than Canada pre-Brexit:

This one in Scotland needs a bit of development but there are previous (ruined) buildings there so planning permission should be fine and you get 3 Islands rather than just one... nearly 400 acres too and less than the price of a flat in London:

I would want some trees and landscape

Scotland, Finland island too small IMO

It's 3.7 acres, granted it isn't anywhere near what you get with a remote (and admittedly barren) Scottish Island but you'll have plenty of trees and ample room to dig a pond ;)

I guess Canada is probably an option if you want lots of trees and more land.

Edit - here you go, requires a bigger budget but a bit over 900 acres, plenty of trees, nice beaches and some fresh water lakes/ponds for you too

Now my friend , that’s more like it :)

A nice detached house on it’s own plot of land somewhere, preferably on the shores of a lake or the coast with it’s own slipway and a boathouse. And maybe another outbuilding I could have an indoor swimming pool and gym put in.

I find these games slightly depressing because its so unlikely to happen :p

But basically, a house with a garage big enough for about 20 cars... And at least 10 cars to start... Mostly classics, but I'd also buy back all my old cars and do with them all the stupid things I could never have afforded to do. Polo would get a VR6, MX5 would get turbo'd, Corolla will get Rotrex'd, Octavia would get forged and have a tractor turbo...

Its basically just all about the cars... :p

Love these threads....I live in an area of the UK where house prices are reasonable (well, you know what I mean)

House up to 1m
Audi R8 V10 Quattro in Suzuka Grey. Nice car, but not in a 'my willy is too small so I drive a red Ferrari' kinda way
Day to day car, not sure what
Fantastic holiday

Then the rest I'd save and think very carefully about who gets a share. Charities mainly.

£135m draw on Friday now

For me:

Roughly £1.5m for a house in the UK. Probably around here, in the countryside. Within walking distance of a village/pub. It needs to have a decent amount of land, and an indoor swimming pool.

Roughly £500k each for relatives, to be paid straight in to property or pensions (except the elderly relatives, who can have it however they want, and realistically probably won't want/need it anyway).

Investigate retaining EU citizenship; potential for Cypriot citizenship via investment. Aim to set up a bolt hole in France or Germany, just in case this country goes to pot.

The rest would get invested. I'd draw an income of £30k/month, which would finance any travel, cars, etc. plus regular monthly outgoings. With that amount of money coming in, I could pretty much do as I please without having to give much thought to budgeting.

I don't really have any interest in buying flash cars or holiday mansions across the world. The "millionaire lifestyle" can be achieved for far less money by renting the things you want, when you need them.

buy 200 houses use them to help low income family's get a step up .. charge them no rent as long as they save money for a deposit of there own and up keep the house there in ..
max stay 5 yrs ..
simples just pay it forward .. the rest move to austrialia buy a couple of boats and go fishing ..

That's in the Orkneys. And no fast internet access. Of course, if you have £100M, spending £1M or so on getting a fibre link isn't going to be a problem.

True, I guess you perhaps get the bonus of making a good impression with the neighbours if you end up forking out for a fibre link for the islands.

With approximate odds of winning being 1 in 140million, I'd probably drop dead of utter shock before I had chance to spend anything.

I'd buy a nice cottage.. doesn't have to be big but would want land. Half for animals and half I'd plant wild flowers etc for the insects. I'd plant trees if there wasn't any and install CCTV at the hope to see some pretty animals. I'd also still dog training part time and build a indoor centre. More dogs too but not a crazy amount. I'd be able to go hiking more too and I'd want a room purely to get my geek on.

Give money to some smaller animal charity and to help the homeless

A Koineingseigg Agera RS and a ticket to the eurotunnel so I could go drive it on Autobahns to the Ring.

I rekon who ever suggests this, has never done either. Seriously I'm not wealthy and if I wanted I could have both of those things right now. I'm even less likely to go do that when I have a ton of money and a ton of things to live for.

only an ocuk **** beta would suggest it tbh.

if you had £150 mill in the bank. all you need to do is buy a lambo/ferrari and just go for a drive around a high flow pedestrian area and just ask some girls for directions and they would be jumping in to show you the way.

I wouldn't care to make a shopping list, literally who cares about a ******* car? I'd go travelling and see the world - probably start in America, then South East Asia, then South America, then Australia. Afterwards I'd buy a big house some where like SoCal and pay for my friends to come over for a few months.

And become an immigrant? LOL.

e: content. I'd talk it through with my wife, probably spend about 20% or so, and invest the rest. The kids would get nothing because I'm kind of Bill Gates about that carry on*

* well, they might get something but not an obscene, life-changing amount.
