I'm being highly speculative here but I suppose you wouldn't want to get a DLSS profile done until the absolute last minute, when you could be certain that the level design and artwork are fully locked in.

If you implemented DLSS early on in development, you'd potentially be requiring new DLSS profiles every month.

This doesn't stack up in the case of FFXV, but it's just some thoughts...

Yeah. I agree with that. Definitely makes sense to do DLSS at the end from everything we understand right now.

For sure DLSS is going to be A LOT easier to implement in games vs ray tracing. Would be cool to see a lot of games using DLSS going forward until we can see games being built with ray tracing in mind which will likely be over a year away. At least it gives people with rtx something to use while waiting and for me to have a nice library of games to play about with when I get my 7nm RTX card :p

Really hope to see DLSS in Cyberpunk 2077. That will help me tame it at 60fps hopefully with a 7nm RTX card. Was thinking, if they get ray tracing working also for it, dlss can help offset the fps impact of having ray tracing on :D

Now take Battlefield V with RTX on at 4K and add the same 30%+ performance increase, and there we have it, close to 60fps at 4K with RTX on ultra.

That's a far cry from the 1080p 60fps that everyone thought we would be getting.

I would go so far as to say that once devs are fully to grips with it and implementing it in tandem with DLSS, then RTX is set to outperform expectations (at least my own) in it's very first generation.

Conversely, I pretty much ONLY buy at the price/performance point because screw paying £600 or £800 or even £1000 for a GPU for marginal performance increases. 8800GT --> HD 5770 --> HD 7850 2gb --> 1060 6gb --> iGPU, waiting for the next AMD 7nm offering because screw paying Nvidia prices also.

Oh wow, look at that. I'm criticising the price, for me. Not the card - because it's amazing, not the people that purchased it - because they can afford it, but Nvidia and the price in and of itself.

Never seen someone so jealous over a graphics card, to the point where they have to try to bring down those that purchased it. Incredibly pathetic.

Genuinely made me chuckle and the very last line is spot on. Most people get on with it but some just can't let it go. A shame really, as I never begrudge anyone anything who works hard for what they have.

It is not bad compared to some of the lists I have done for other lower priced cards.

Those people on the Titan list are hardly unique either as NVidia would have sold the cards to many thousands of people all around the world, it is just that 39 of them posted on OcUK.

Some people will not add themselves either, as they will get a tirade of hate from some and I can't blame them.

I'm not concerned
I'm not envious
I don't lack possessions.
I clearly have status to influence cap to spend nearly 2.5k

I don't have the time to watch the video, but I get the following:

- 120ish at 1080p RTX on ultra
- 70ish at 1440p RTX on ultra
- 40ish at 4K RTX on ultra

These are rough numbers, it various quite wildly depending on level and location.

Based on the evidence, we should expect DLSS, if it gets implemented, to push 4K with RTX near to 60fps.

EDIT: I just skimmed the video and saw some charts. Have I missed something? He has absurdly low figures that do not match my experience at all. :confused:
 
More good news about DLSS

I just tried it on my 7980XE with just 4 cores and hyperthreading running and the performance was near enough the same as using all 18 cores and hyperthreading.

DLSS does not need a massive CPU equipped PC to run.

Hopefully, though my guess is this will be for 7nm cards.

Everything is on Ultra.

My 8086K is overclocked to 5.3GHZ all cores, and my 2080Ti has a +150mhz CPU boost and +750mhz memory boost. I don't have time to go through the video as I'm supposed to be working, so I don't know what kind of system they're using.

My testing isn't scientific, some levels are lower than others, and it depends very much on what you're looking at in game, so my figures should be considered just an observed estimate.

They're testing areas that have reflective surfaces. If there's no/few reflective surfaces then you're going to see greater performance as RT is only applied to reflections and not shadows etc.
