Christmas humbug thread

When will be stop associating snow with Christmas?

It has not snowed at Christmas for 20 years at least!
Cause Santa comes from Lapland and Lapland has lots of snow. He’s also got reindeers that pull a sleigh. Sleighs operate better in snow (unless they’re magic like Santa’s)

We had snow here Christmas 2010. Can't remember if it actually snowed on Christmas day but it was still here from the days leading up to it.

EDIT: This was taking 25/12/2010 09:39am

Not everyone celebrates Christmas, but it irks me that some councils change it to "Happy Holidays" to pander to the offended. We don't rename Guy Fawkes or Independence Day do we? Nor Easter, EID, Chinese New Year, Hogmanay, New Year's Eve etc?

The OP's argument (about no snow) is valid in the Southern hemisphere, the Equator and 1 or 2 latitudes above that.

Does that really happen though? I go out and see Merry/Happy Christmas everywhere. Same at Easter I still see eggs with Easter on in shops yet the BNP/EDL like & share campaigns on Facey claim they don't.

Yes people do rename Guy Fawkes Night. To Bonfire Night and Fireworks Night.

Lol, you're just taking the b8 m8, so ez.

My 5 year old made a comment that "father Christmas isn't really real is he?" the other day. We couldn't lie to his face so just said he wasn't but explained the story of Saint nik to him which he accepted and carried on building his lego.

Give it another 20 odd years and I don't think even father Christmas will be a thing let alone snowing on Christmas day.

If it wasn't for my young kids then I would celebrate but not traditionally. I'd go round and visit a few people and drop off a present here and there but wouldn't bother with a tree or lights or anything.

Oh hang on... Travel around visiting people and dropping off presents... I'll be growing a white bread next!?!?

i'm in the "it's not even december yet!" club

people start celebrating far too early and the season loses it's spark because it drags on for 3 months now
