Dead PSU?

I took advantage of buying an addtional SSD last week in the sale.
Fitted it and have been using it since with no issue.

Last night, power dies, with an instant reboot.

Dies again halfway through boot, then won't boot at all - PSU appears dead.

I disconnect everything, move tower to a new power socket. Power flickers on but dies again off almost instantly. Completely dead since then. I've followed all fault finding guides in the sticky post and still dead.

PSU is approx 3 years old - is the fitting of the SSD coincidence?

What make and model PSU do you have?

If it's still relevant XFX XTR Gold 80. However....

I thought i'd give it one more go. Disconnected everything, reconnected everything and then it booted...... but with no screen output.

Swapped the displayport cable to the next socket and now all seems well......?

Glad the gremlins seemed to have gone... for now. ;)

No disrespect to you but it is always worth trying a CMOS reset as it can solve a lot of problems - I learned it the hard way.

No disrespect taken - turns out the PSU was fine. I re-did all connections and boom started again.

One thing I have learned though is that the 5 year warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. XFX said I needed to post it back to scandanavia (£30 + taxes) who would then send it to the far east for testing. I would then have to pay return postage for replacement/repair.

Would work out cheaper to buy a new PSU - luckily not needed.
