Hi folks

I'm looking to upgrade CPU, Mobo, and RAM, with new PSU and cooler as well (old ones 10+ year old). Would appreciate if people could have a quick look to check if all is okay - see below. Will be paired with 1070 Ti (2080 Ti down the road), SSD boot drive, full ATX case (has headroom for the new cooler). Thanks in advance.

CPU: Intel i7 8700k

MoBo: Gigabyte Z370 Aorus (s1151)

RAM: 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3000mhz

Cooler: Noctua NH D15

Thermal paste: Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut

PSU: Seasonic Focus 750w 80p Gold

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £864.97 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Much much much better motherboard. You could even get budget z390 gigabyte and WiFi card . Aorus is 12+1 VRM design and is only beaten by MSI flagship £500 board pretty much .
9700k is 8c/8t but will edge out 8700k 6c/12t due to clock speed. Physical cores always better then artificial ones , HT adds about 15% performance
Cooler is cheaper and will act exactly the same

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £890.01 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Also get a copy of BFV with retail 9700k

Many thanks for your help on this one. Just one question - if HT adds 15% performance, is HT not in the 8700 only and therefore why go for 9700k? Sorry just a but confused on this point.

HT doesn't scale 100% - extra 2 cores of the 9700k adds slightly more performance then 8700k 6 cores with HT enabled . Raw horse power vs logical work around in basic nutshell . look at the difference between 9900k and 9700k , specially at gaming and not to much difference.
9700k also runs faster as stock speeds and is cooler which HELPS a lot!!!!

now HT does lend a hand with VM in cases etc

Ah I forgot about 9th series having soldering to help with heat, which is obviously important when OC. Really helpful, thanks again!

you'd needed a damn good 360 AIO normally to push 5ghz and over on the 8700k, specially if you were doing workstation loads. also 9700/9900k can cook z370 VRMs if pushed very hard over a long period of time .

Got the upgrade installed over the weekend. Fantastic performance and 100-200% performance increase in Battlefield 5 during combat. No more stuttering at all in this or other games, extra FPS everywhere, and increase in quality settings. CPU nice and cool under load (60s).

Thanks again for your help on this one.
