Stupid Woman.. or Stupid People?

Is there really so little sexism against women that anyone looking for it can only find someone possibly maybe referring to Teresa May as a woman and desperately try to pretend that's hatred of women?

Seriously? Is antifemale sexism that rare, i.e. completely non-existent?

Did I miss Teresa May saying that she now identifies as a man? But wait...if she did then referring to her as a woman would be "hatred" of transgenderism, not "hatred" of women.

This fuss is utter nonsense that isn't even consistent with itself, let alone with reality. At best, it's a facile and flimsy attempt to divert attention away from anything serious. Like the Brexit mess.

It does look like "woman" tbh... though as much as I'm not a Corbyn fan, I don't think pointing out that a woman is being stupid is in itself all that dreadful. It doesn't in itself imply something negative about all woman.

The main thing here I guess is perhaps that if a Tory had said it then Labour, and especially Corbynites/momentum types, would be screeching. Its rather silly to then see right wingers getting worked up about it and left wingers trying to defend it simply because he's Jeremy Corbyn and he's all right on etc.. in general.

It is a bit annoying that Bercow's reply to Leadsom was cut off on that BBC article- anyone got the full clip?

edit - found it:

My friend told me about this yesterday and my first thought was "so what?" and if he said stupid woman whats the big deal, she's a woman and was thought of was being stupid... stupid woman is perfectly succinct.

But watching that clip even when I'm primed to lip read "woman" I'm getting "people", and that makes sense since moments before the whole chamber seems to have just finished a sea shanty which annoyed him so he called them stupid people.

It's kinda sexist if you think about it, implying that women are so weak and fragile they need to be defended from words. Would a female politician need to apolgise after saying stupid man? I think not.

I'm not Corbyn's greatest fan. But even I think this story is just ridiculous. I can't see that he's done anything wrong even if he had said woman. The HoC is just like a school playground.

I'm happy to see any story come out that puts Corbyn in a bad light, simply because he's a complete waste of space. But that said, it's ridiculous that so much has been made of this.

Great deflection tactic though just as MP's break up for an 18 day holiday. Not as if there's anything important to sort out.

I bet the same people defending Corbyn lap up every negative word written about Trump as if it were direct from God.

Did me or did he not?
That is did Jeremy Corbyn mouth stupid woman, who the hell gives a damn, oh I know those of us who get offended by any and everything and of course our pathetic media who has it front page on TV and papers?
I see no reason for him to apologise whatsoever and I am no fan of Corbyn. This is just another example of how pathetic we as a society have become.
Did anyone actually hear him say it, no? Even so called lip reading experts cannot agree so he should stick two fingers up to the Twitter **********.
I am really glad that given my age my time left on this planet is limited because I really hate the constant over the top political correctness.

Is this honestly the best they can come up with to try and "deflect" scrutiny away for the fiasco that is Brexit, I thought my opinion was pretty low already!

Stupid people. I see nothing but that and it completely makes sense that he would say that.

I am anti corbyn, but can see a desperate attempt to divert attention away from the tories when there is one.

I don't blame the Conservatives for doing this, it's politics after all.

Saying stupid women would be sexist. I'm surprised more than anything at the amount of people that think that's ok to say. Calling a female a women in a debate/argument is such a lame old attempt to belittle them.

Stupid black would be racist, though true if they were stupid and black. Stupid women would be sexist, though true if stupid and a women. Doesn't make it right as the word women is used too much as an insult as though to say they are bad simply for being a women.

Agreed 100%. It's bizarre that this is being portrayed as misogynistic. That word now gets misused more than the word "literally".
