Latest Gillette ad suggests their customers are broken, toxic and need "fixing" through feminism

Nope, look at the BBQ scene ... a massive row of men just watching on, all saying the same phrase ... implying that the vast majority ( rather than a minority ) of men would behave in that manner.

The notion that to act as a good example to your children is is good ... I agree with that.

Its how they compare against a suggestion that all men are inappropriate is whats wrong with the video. Also it seems that men are being stereotyped as weak for being offended by the video ... cant you see the hypocrisy in that.
That BBQ chanting scene is representing the message drummed in to men from early life: "boys will be boys" to excuse and reinforce bad behaviour. It's deliberately surreal (I mean, do you also think it's suggesting men attending a party will each have their own BBQ too?). We actually had real people using the phrase to excuse Brett Kavanaugh's rapey beery shenanigans, for example - not denying them, but excusing them.

What's the problem with it?

It's not an ad is it? Just a short film about being a better man and not doing what is in the video.....

I don’t get why you would be offended... it’s clearly targeted at men that act inappropriately (fighting / leering over women etc) so why would that offend you if you know you don’t do those things?

Saying that, I don’t get the office scene with the manager explaining what the woman said... that happens just as much to men and he only rested his hand on her shoulder! Is that deemed a sexual advance nowadays?! lol

No, he is cutting her off because he thinks he knows what she was going to say, when he probably doesn't.

Absolute calamity. Biggest marketing disaster ever. This is what you get when you hire fresh out of university SJW’s, who think their three years of uni has prepared them for the big wide world and the rest of us need reforming. Not a clue. Will never buy Gillette again. They’re overpriced cack anyway.

I think Gerald Ratner still holds the crown for the most effective business suicide to date.

Yeah it irked me a bit too - mainly because the things it shows are indeed "bad things", but it suggests that all men do, and are almost taught or expected to do, those things, apart from a minority that try to stop it.

When from my 6 experience in the work place (so only "modern experience" ), there is a very small minority that act like this, and the consensus (from men and women) is that these people are tools. and then you have the very large majority that don't act like this and none are "activists" and get along with each other, men and women, just fine.

This ad is a big YIKES from me.
I'm not affended more perplexed by the messaging. Embarrassing really.

Could be worse though,it could be a Santander ad with Jessica Ennis in it

how the hell do you know who they employed to create the add?! you working for Gillette and don't want to admit it :p

**** off, there's nothing wrong with leering at women (as long as no rapey rapey ensues) and i'll fight any one who disagrees - i'm also not offended by the advert....do i win something? :D

When Einstein said he didn't know what form WW3 would take I think it's fairly obvious now that it is a war on the minds of everyone, sadly it looks like the far left who have infested the education system and their corporate allies are winning. When you have Brexit and an elected president being attacked and obstructed from every angle by rich people and corporations you just know Democracy is dead.

Just taking some time out from my busy rape schedule to comment on this advert.

My comment: it is bad.

Right, I’m off out to kick a woman in the fanny now.

So they made an ad that solely appeals to radical feminists - a demographic notorious for NOT shaving.

Nothing remotely embarrassing about it really. Im not sure why people are offended by this all to be honest.

Not offended, Slightly annoyed at the misguided message it is trying to put across would be a more accurate description.

IMO there is nothing wrong with kids (boys or girls) play fighting in fact its a good way or learning what is "going to far", nothing wrong with looking at woman or even trying to talk to them and as for bosses being idiots towards staff in meetings, that is hardly exclusive to woman!

The only thing in that short film that is wrong is the kids running after the one boy with the intention (I assume) of bullying him, someone needs to step in there.

If you made an ad targeting criminal Black people would you be here saying: "It clearly targeted only at bad Black people". If it were Muslims, if it were trans, if it were anything other than "men", would you be here responding in the same way? No. The reason for the objection is because there's an increasing culture of men = bad and this is part of that. Also, there's just a very natural tendency to dislike to morally righteous condescending ***** taking it upon themselves to explain to you (in this case, men) how you should act.
