Latest Gillette ad suggests their customers are broken, toxic and need "fixing" through feminism

And good on them. I have no issues with principals. My point is most people don't evidence them, they just talk about them.

Well that's usually when it takes effort. Now if you had to go to a different shop out of your way to get a rival brand I'd agree with you. But picking up Wilkinson's rather than Gillettes is effortless. I mean the only reason to buy Gillettes over similar products is branding - razors are a commodity item. Branding which Gillettes seem to have just damaged with their misplaced hectoring and condescension.

You are one person.

Everything starts with one person. If Gillette want to call me a rapist and misogynist, I'll take my business elsewhere and move on. That's how you tell people their behaviour is unacceptable, ironically just like that ad is telling us to do.

Personally I am tired of the fickle. The constantly aghast. The constantly angry. The vociferous indignant, the internet breeds them but hardly ever actually act on their anger.

They moan moan moan and carry on. It's frankly tiresome.

Yea it's a rubbish advert with a message that is generalist, misguided and misplaced. Good intentioned perhaps, but misses the mark but some perspective is needed. Tomorrow you will read something else on your chip paper because the last thing you read was irrelevant really.

True, but that's how the perpetually offended win. They grind you down, shout you down, tell you that you can't have an opinion or discussion unless you agree with them. When this becomes how a business operates, you punish them via your wallet and move on, because the money is all that they are interested in. There's plenty of other companies out there to buy your products from, so why not vote your displeasure at bad behaviour by shopping elsewhere?

If someone feels the need to also downvote the video on Youtube, complain here, get the message out, then that's also fine. You can't really be that tired of it, if you're here commenting too. You just don't want to hear about it, but that doesn't happen by letting these people keep putting out this kind of misandrist rubbish.

So to my point, to be clear,. Moan moan moan then back to normal tomorrow.

It's not that hard to see why I have little time for constant butt hurt who do nothing about it but moan, who post on the internet and then go buy the product. You can make a stand, you can tell me you will never buy it again and fine, do that, it is your choice. But most won't and do you know what, I suspect you won't either.

Gotta love multinational companies that test their products on animals, trying to lecture us on moral fibre.

Imagine breaking up that street fight in reality, then get changed for assault on a minor, or get stabbed while your kid watches.

Great job Proctor and Gamble!

Kind of makes my point nicely...

"They kill baby pandas but they shave so good."

"Oh look, a telly add with birds getting equal rights, that's it, I'm writing a letter."

I would've liked to see Gillette be a positive proponent of masculinity rather than push pathetic feminist propaganda.

I guess if you see yourself reflected in the douchebag men in the advert, rather than the more heroic types sorting **** out, then you might get a bit upset.....

So many if the shoe fits blah blah.

It's not normal to be in a minority, most men are normal, decent people, like MOST women/people/humans.

I just hate the condescending way that a vast corperation paints all men as aholes but a few stand out for going against the norm.... Bs.

Here's an insight for you.

The bad men in the advert are an allegory. They are not representing men, but representing the patriarchy (which does NOT mean 'men'). The heroes are us - the actual straight-up real life good guys.

It's like no-one's ever read a ******* poem :D

It really doesnt. You seem to be butt hurt, constantly moaning about others, yet do nothing about it. You're perpetuating your own cycle.

If consumers choose to change their spending habits due to corporate action, then they are doing something about it aren't they. Seems to me you're sneering at people's inaction, while entirely missing the fact they are doing the complete opposite. Who's the idiot in that scenario?

Isn't breaking up fights a proper man activity?

It's a good way to get beaten up.
I've only broken up 3 fights in my life.
One between a gf bf I assume, he was very drunk and pushing her like a c word. Shouted at him a bit, ended up getting shouted at by the gf too.... Others drunk idiots in clubs.

I honestly could never be arsed to intervene in something again unless it's truly noble.
I just cannot be dealing with ramifications of modern life and getting involved in not my business.

But they don't act, this is the point I am making. My tiredness at that is not a reason not to raise, quite the reverse.

Make that two. I'm not particularly outraged but given the easy switch to Wilkinson Sword I think I will given then a try instead. I try to avoid companies promoting this kind of politics because I find it detremental in the long term. I am also teaching my son to shave so I will probably try him on WS too. So that's three people in this tiny thread that are going to move away.

I am supporting positive action, not belittling it. My point is most won't.

Talk a great game, do nothing. Those who act I have respect for, most don't hence my entry point.

Imagine an advert aimed at women showing all the negative things women do, it would literally never happen. Neither would you say Black people are responsible for other Black people's behavior. I am not responsible for other Men's behaviour, it's insulting to suggest I have anything to do with abusers because I'm the same gender.
