Am I mad??

What are the other options? You've got a heck of a long way to go before you can sell here. I'd be intrigued to know where else there is to sell components like this without the scammy risks that eBay opens you up to - where else were you thinking?

Well, there is Gumtree for a start, I live close to Norwich city which has a decent size population. Gumtree might have its fair share of chancer's but I've bought and sold stuff on there in the past plenty of times and not had a bad experience yet, it's not quite as terrible as people make out, not in my area at least. I actually sold my old Graphics card on there a couple of years ago and the guy paid full price and was in and out in 1 minute flat. There is also that Facebook marketplace for people in your local area, my Mrs has bought tonnes of things off of there and she thinks its great. It can't all be dresses and shoes can it? The gaming industry is bigger than the movie and music industry combined. If i can't find people willing to buy good quality second hand parts that they can collect themselves and check before handing money over, then I am doing it wrong.

Yes, mad as a hatter.

Enjoy yer padded cell. :p

That's the spirit ! :D

Shame you cant sell the bits on here. Good luck selling it on Gumtree and facebook groups...... haha

Corr, who **** in your breakfast cereal guys :D A bit more negativity and nitpicking than I was expecting, I thought there would be people genuinely interested to see how I got on. I saw an opportunity and I decided to go for it, if it pays off then I end up with that spec for an absolute bargain seeing as most of it is only 3 months old. Tell me you wouldn't tear someones arm off if they offered you that spec at the bottom of the first post for somewhere around £900, possibly even a little bit less. For the motherboard and CPU alone you are looking at £650+ new. I mean, if you want to go out and pay full price for things because you can't be bothered to put in some graft then all power to you.

I could have just written two lines, or nothing at all for that matter but I thought I would write something a bit more entertaining. Glad some of you have decided not to beat my good mood to death with a shoe.
To be fair, I think you’ve got off lightly, plenty more have incurred far more wrath for considerably less. ;) :p

It's worth a try if the numbers seem to stack up and you have the time to strip and sell it all. Did you take account of selling fees, a couple of items getting returned (ebay idiots) and packaging costs too? Good luck

Does PC 2 actually have a Windows 10 license? ... all it seams to list is a flash drive with it on which doesn't mean it actually has a license to run it. Potential extra cost there if you are using that motherboard and CPU.

I've sold quite a few PC bits on ebay and not had any problems. I always take good pictures of everything including serial numbers to ward off scammers though.

The one thing you haven't taken into account is your time. You've saved yourself £200 but how much time do you need to invest to save that money? To be fair in my younger days I would have done the same and enjoyed myself while I was at it. Nowadays I would rather spend £200 and give myself the extra time to play on the PC :)

Sounds like you're enjoying yourself and that is the important thing, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Anything I end up reselling on EBay will be final (unless the just flat out refuse to accept the parcel but I mean, the odds of that have got to be low enough to ignore). I will deter any potential scammers when they read the ad. Selling fees will be minimal as I will do it during the next "pay only £1" events. I'm hoping to sell most of it local collection though.

I'm hoping I'm going to save more than £200, even if I only compare the prices to what I originally would have had to pay for the i5 8600k I'm hoping i'll save closer to £400 and have a much better PC too. As for time, I am on maternity leave at the moment. Oh and yes, I am enjoying myself.

"Wanted to upgrade my PC for cheap, proceeds to spend over £2k...."

You seem to have zero self-control or self-discipline, you also brought them from eBay...

Wow, judgemental much. So what if I "brought" them from EBay, what do you have against that?? Both the guys I bought from have been great, I spent almost 2 hours at the house of pc No.2 yesterday and he was a really nice guy and we had a lot in common. If we're doing snap judgements about each other based on a couple of lines of text then here's my attempt.

You seem like a judgemental snob.

Was I accurate? No? Then maybe, just maybe you weren't also.

I think I'm actually going stop replying to these posts now. Practically all I've done is try to defend myself, this was supposed to be a light hearted thread, even if it turned turned out a compete failure. Try not to take life so serious guys. Gotta go eat 14 Donuts now as I have no self control apparently, who knew.

This is GD, the more butt hurt you get, the worse its gonna get :p:D

A shame, I've just come across this thread and would've been interested to hear how it went. I bought a used system on eBay around 2014 that was collect only - was a very good deal already and I had a few bits and bobs to sell from it. I nearly did something similar a month ago with a Ryzen 1600 with 16 GB 3200 MHz DDR4. It had a GTX 1060 6GB along with a bunch of surprisingly pricey enthusiast peripherals/parts that I would've sold on. In the end the seller cancelled the listing in the last few minutes; undoubtedly he was aware it was going to go for significantly below the value of its parts. I therefore decided to buy new, and have to say I'm glad I didn't have the extra headache of collecting / frankensteining two PCs / more eBay selling.

And yes, general discussion probably wasn't the best place for this thread. General hardware may have been a more sympathetic environment :P

Ignore the hate criticism OP - your taking a bit of a risk, but sometimes risk is needed to get what you want! :D

Good luck - and great initial post: 10/10

Edit: cheering up @Malevolence
