I originally planned to use the title "Why are the English such disgusting pigs?" but decided instead on the blander "Fly-tipping".

Why is it that the English are incapable of getting rid of their rubbish in a civilised, considerate manner? I have visited many countries over the years and it seems only to be in third world countries with no rubbish collection or refuse disposal sites and in England that simply dumping unwanted rubbish is deemed acceptable.

Red Bull, McDonalds, KFC and others should be subjected to a 1% tax on turnover to pay for the collection and disposal of the rubbish that their customers toss away so inconsiderately.

People caught throwing rubbish out of their car or van windows should have their vehicles confiscated and crushed. People caught fly-tipping should have their houses turned into rubbish dumps.

Funnily enough most of the people that fly tip the contents of their houses near me aren't English or at least magically have no grasp of the language when I ask what they think they're doing.

It does depend on area.

I've worked in posh parts if London and the South East and the difference just seems to be the amount of cleaner uppers there are. The posher the areas the earlier the street sweepers and cleaners are up.

And do you mean fly tipping of fridges and garden waste or general rubbish like food wrappers?

This diatribe largely stemmed from my driving South today to visit relatives and going for a walk and Pub Lunch with them.

I got caught up in a traffic jam on the way and couldn't believe how much rubbish there was in and on the verges - Red Bull cans and McDonalds and KFC wrappers were the most common.

When we went for a walk, in addition to Red Bull cans and McDonalds and KFC wrappers by the roadside, every parking spot or layby had its quota of domestic appliances, household rubbish and building material.

To the list in my OP can be added the morons who feel that trees should be decorated by plastic bags of dog faeces - dog owners are scum and their pets should be converted to feed real pigs.

I agree it’s a disgusting habit but lol at having your car crushed for throwing something out of the window!

Agreed. Crush the person, sell the car, and use the money to pay street sweepers etc.

The amount of filth up here in Birmingham is utterly disgusting, and the level of rubbish they deem acceptable to just drop on the floor is mind-boggling. They act so surprised when you call them out on it as well, had some ***** **** **** *****–****** drop a can of coke out of their car window in front of me at a petrol station, imagine their dismay when it came flying back in through the still open window, particularly as it was still half full!

where my ex partners brother lives up in west yorkshire they have a communal square grass area that backs on to the houses ,nearly every one of them dumps all their crap over the fence including sofass and beds , everything ,right on their own door steps where their kids are meant to play

they do that to ward off evil spirits, thought everybody knew that....

The caretaker where I live does a weekly litter pick, it does annoy me though as I'm sure he's got better things to do than pick up cigarette butts etc..

Loads of actual fly tipping round here. Darn gypsies. Nearly drove into a load of fridges one night on my way home.

I also live near a public footpath and the amount of rubbish is shocking. Literally bags of beer cans. People just don’t care these days.

I dare you to google "Page Hall, Sheffield"

Agree, it's foul. Up here we get a lot of the friendly loveable travelling community and eastern Europeans in addition to our own native scum.

To be fair when it comes to full on fly tipping (which is what the OP put in th title of the thread) rather than just dropping litter, it does seem that the travelling community is quite keen on it - both dumping their own rubbish after moving their illegal encampment on through to dumping waste from the ad hoc building work they've carried out or simply waste they've been paid to dispose of. They're often "Irish" rather than English.

Atleast they are putting it in bins I guess but at work we have a huge problem with people coming by in the dead of night and filling up our industrial size wheelie bins (a service we pay for) with their own rubbish - though if they are already full or they have bigger stuff it just gets dumped in a corner of our loading yard.

EDIT: The original title would be quite apt though if you'd ever spent much time looking through the CCTV footage of what happens in the car park by work :| some pretty grim people out there.
