Liam Neeson race row - he wanted to kill a black man!

White man not racist for wanting to kill random black people

Black man racist despite speeches like this:

Your racism is extraordinary.

You regard a "white" person briefly wanting a random "black" man to attack him as an excuse to kill them as being irredeemably racist forever.

You don't regard a "black" person actually killing random "white" people by surprise, using bombs, as not being racist at all, ever.

You are indeed extremely racist.

Yes, Nelson Mandela later changed his position. Maybe from a genuine change of heart, maybe from practical politics. But he never expressed any shame over his terrorism and racist murdering. Unlike Liam Neeson has done for his vastly less bad racism.

A more minor point - if you'd read my posts, you would have seen that I very clearly said that Liam Neeson was racist. So you're wrong about that too.

Do I?

If you used to be racist and aren't anymore (which I think is the case with Neeson), and happen to be a high profile actor I would suggest

A) Keeping it to yourself
or
B) Joining together with an anti-racism campaign to tell your story.

Don't just randomly tell a journalist whilst trying to promote a movie...

Yes, since you were disagreeing with me saying that Liam Neeson was racist at that time, decades ago, but isn't now.

You also advocated very extreme racist double standards in which the deliberate repeated terrorist murders of people for being "white" is not racist while briefly hoping that a "black" person attacks you so you have an excuse for killing them (but not actually doing anything) is racist.

Thanks for the feedback on my comment.
I appreciate in this instance I was probably wrong on this.

What he did was racist. In fact you could not give a clearer example of an act that was racist.
not in my eyes. a black scumbag raped his friend, he went out looking for a black scumbag to hurt/kill. he went out waiting for some scumbag type to try it on w/ him so he'd have a chance/excuse to **** him up.

if he'd gone out and attacked ANY black guy, he would have been racist.
if the rapist had been white, and he'd gone looking for a black guy, he would have been racist.

How isn’t that racist? Attributing the actions of ONE person to an entire race

Yeah, think he needs to read up on the term racism...it may not be what he thinks is racism, but in terms of its definition, yes, yes it is:

the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

The real issue for me is why would Liam Neeson go on record with this?

Even if he was a closet KKK member, there is no way that he would go public with this unless he wanted to press the self destruct button.

Even if you do not believe that he is racist I think everyone can understand HOW this could be interpreted.

So why?

This is the equivalent of a drunk text to the ex. It sounds offensive and incoherent, probably no harm was intended, but the damage is catastrophic, and instantly regrettable.

I cant imagine Neeson will be on the Christmas card list of the investors of this movie after this.

I’m not sure I understand the outrage, the rapist was a black man, so he went looking for a black man... how is that racist?

Then to top it off he realised he was being unreasonable waiting around for any random black guy to start a fight and got over the whole ordeal and is now using it as an example of a time he feels ashamed of. Everyone desperately wants something to be offended by nowadays!

Skin colour isn’t a race anyway...

And yes he admitted what he thought in a moment of range was wrong in but that is not who he is today...

Racism has nothing to do with biological races, because there is only one single human race (homosapiens)

At the end of the day, it happened long ago and he is telling he story in a way where he is admitting it was a terrible mistake and how pointless revenge actually is.

I don’t think he should be too vilified over it

Yeah, this. If anyone hasn't seen John Barnes being interviewed over this, it's a good watch. The whole thing is a classic example of the media divorcing things from their context and then creating a storm over their newly minted strawman.
