Hi all,

My Zotac 1080ti AMP! died and they are going to refund me 749 Euros because they don't have any replacements in stock.

What can I buy with that these days? I'm aware I got an Amazing deal at the time so I imagine I won't be able to replace it unless I spend more :(

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

G

Toss a coin and decide between 2080 and Vega 7, both are about on par with the 1080ti :p

On the more serious note, do some research on both of the above mentioned card, and decide which you should go for.

It's such a shame cause it was a heavily overclocked one too :(
It's not all bad though. All the performance you might gain from overclocking would probably be offset by the lack of performance optimisation that Nvidia would have for the 1080ti in new games moving forward.

With a new 2080, as least you will still have good consistence performance for new titles up until Nvidia release the cards of gen that follows. Also you get longer warranty with buying a new card comparing to holding on the old.

I never trusted them tiny zotac amp cards! surprised it lasted that long! haha

I would be tempted with VII imho, I don't think Nvidia deserve anymore money!

Not surprised it didnt last long when it had 5 years warranty, Zotac should had replaced it with a Zotac RTX 2080 at same price.

Que forum post winning that the RMA replacement was a downgrade as it had less memory

I'd push them for more money too, you can reason it with the fact you need to get a 2080 to replace as a near equivalent... With 3gb less ram!

Ask them to pay you more then you paid for a card a few years back? Never going to happen now is it.

Pretty sure the 2080 is faster.

Get a 2080. Skip Vega or VII it's a mess
Sorry, if there's anything that's a mess, it is the potential memory issue on the RTX cards.

I decide to not highlight it and advise OP to do his own research and decide for himself which card to go for, as it is always down to how people use their cards.

I myself if given the choice between the 2080 and the Vega VII, I would go for the latter hands-down simply because I can use Freesync on my 75" 4K Sammy over HDMI, which Nvidia cannot do. RTX features likely not gonna be truly relevant and beneficial and widely used in games until RTX 3000 series arrives anyway. Coupling that with tiny amount of hardware cores dedicated for RTX in the 2000 series at the moment, I'd rather take the card with double the amount of vram, together with likely longer driver support and performance optimisation for future games instead.

Choosing a graphic card ain't always the same and as simple as comparing and measuring whose willy is bigger.
