my pc is currently rocking an ancient x1800xt graohics card what would be the best second hand upgrade for around £40? Obviously I win’t Be playing the latest AAA titles on full details!

Now PSU isn't something I'd thought about I've got a decent modular 520W Corsair job but I suspect that might not be up to it anymore! Rest of my spec out of interest is a core i5 750 with 4GB of RAM so that might limit the cards I will benefit from!

I suggest you post your want in the Members' Market.

Depends on the model and if it's got 6 or 8 pin adapters

I'd recomend the following you might be able to get:

AMD (aged better) - 380, 280, 370, 270 or maybe a 460 or 560

1050 (ambitious at this price), 960, 950, 770, 680, 670, 660ti

HD7950 with its 3gb Vram isn't great but it's not absolutely awful. or try and bag a GTX 670. MIGHT get a 770 if someone is desperate to sell.

If you cant get anything better than a 760 2gb ill sell you the one I got off the MM last September to tide me over for a month or so ,while I got a new card.
Not sure how much faster it is over your current card? If its an improvement and nothing else crops up in your budget stick a wanted thread in the MM and its yours.

I payed £50 for it. It's yours for what ever you can afford.

Hopefully this isn't against the rules (i know sales should be kept to MM at all times) but I don't mind helping a fellow community member out as long as i'm not going to get in trouble.

Whats your CPU and motherboard?
You might find is better to get an AMD APU and have a complete upgrade so need for GPU.

Otherwise try for a second hand AMD 7970.

7970 is a solid shout, delivering around 1050ti performance.

Hardware unboxed did an updated review of it last year
