Don't forget to leave the thread and stop acting like a child? Just because you couldn't put the effort in to find a decent body shop and got stung several times doesn't mean everyone else is the same as you. Cheers :D

Well if they don't even have basic equipment like a booth then that would be a good clue they are cowboys.

I've found a local one who my local Ford Dealership use sometimes, they have a spray booth and baking oven. They also post photos and projects of the cars they have restored, including Lambo Aventadors, Gallardos, BMW i8s etc. on their facebook page, I might go and visit to check out their work up close.

You want to stick fake tat on your car yet he’s the one acting like a child? Oh dear.

"Oh dear" is exactly what I think of people who post photos trying to garner a laugh on someone else's behalf. Pathetic. It's up to me what I want to do with my car, I came on here looking for advice and to ask a genuine question. Not to have someone try and take the **** out of me because they're unhappy with their own lives and have nothing better to do. Cheers.

I had a look at doing a similar thing - I liked the standard kit on a titanium, inc the 5 doors (fiesta), but liked the exterior of a Zetec S. After getting in contact with a few local bodykit garages, they recommended against it, as they couldn't guarantee the quality of the finish on all body parts would match that of the car. There's only 1 garage I'd have trusted, which is run by a family friend with years of experience working in car painting, and he'd have charged me about 600 I think it was, and that was with me getting the kit direct from Ford all primed etc, purely due to the difficulty in colour matching it properly.

I think you'd be better off looking for a titanium with the aero kit already done. They're very rare, mind. Only 1 popped up for me when searching for a fiesta over 4 months.

Toys status: THROWN, ALL OVER THE FLOOR

It’s a forum. You can post whatever you want, so can anyone else. You posted that you wanted to tart up your shopping trolley, I posted an image of another tarted up shopping trolley. So what?

Yes, my life is tragic and yes I do have better things to do but watching you have a little tantrum on the internet is far more entertaining than any of them.

Calm down guys.

@smr you may struggle to get serious/sensible replies here, best off doing some proper research and contacting some body shops.

I'm not the one having a tantrum, or writing in capital letters because I'm angry. I'm calm and happy thanks :) The thought of you thinking that you've affected someone else's head, when you actually haven't is nothing but amusing really. Carry on... :)

This for example is the rear bumper and diffuser - it's just the bottom part of the bumper I need, along with the diffuser, this is £120 used, looks in OK condition but there will be scratches, marks, blemishes etc. that need sorting so it will need some prep, how much I'm not sure exactly.

The price for these parts brand new and primed is £339.

So what I am wondering is, is it worth me paying £120 and then getting them prepped and painted, and cost for that, or is it going to come to the same price if I bought new at £339 and got them painted, considering there may be less prep work n

buy that and get it resprayed, or buy that, prepare it yourself and get it resprayed, but it depends how much they charge for the respray only. if you work on cars quite often then you'll already know who a good local sprayer is, if not, ask at your MOT Centre.

Would it not make more sense to retrofit the optional extras/technology to an actual Zetec-S?

From what I've read no it would be way more hassle doing that. I was fortunate to buy a Titanium model for a really good price, with only 35k on the clock, it's got all the toys I need, and soft touch materials everywhere, the Zetec S looks a lot better on the outside, it looks finished and a bit sportier, without looking chavvy, the only problem is that the Zetec interior is hard plastic just about everywhere and doesn't have the same level of spec and trim quality.

Thanks it's a good price for it so I'll see if it's still available.

Thanks for that, curious as to how it'd have been easier to colour match if it came primed and new from Ford as opposed to buying second hand in the wrong paint, surely with the second hand kit they could sand it down and prime it. What would the difference be?

The match won't be any better using parts that come already primed - they will still prep it and will be using the same paint as they would anyway on top.

Where you might struggle with colour matching is that you will potentially have differring materials i.e plastic on the bumpers/skirts/inserts up against metal on the wings, you aren't using the exact same paint and prep build up as the original items and would potentially end up with blending all over the body which isn't practical. Without respraying the whole car or guaranteeing you have painted all the panels (one including the doors etc) in the same place with the exact same paint you might end up with a little bit of variation depending on the colour. Any good paint shop will be able to minimise this and tbh it really shouldn't be a big issue if you find a decent sprayer.

It won't be cheap though, £200+ for my Spirit blue bumper and nearly £500 for boot panel and rear bumper to get it done properly. Could absolutely get it done for less but the plastic panels already have a ropey match from the factory so the last thing you want is to make it look worse
