Too early for a thread? Yep! But I'm bored at work so, here it is.

Let's be honest. The event has become a bit of a damp squib; with social media leaks, big names doing their own thing etc, endless sequels and remakes, it's just all rather dull. But for what it's worth, here are the details.

EA aren't listed as they're doing a pre-conference event on Saturday, 8th June, called EA Play. Basically it's a few consecutive livestreams. The highlight here, for me anyway, will be the first look at Respawn's Star Wars game, Jedi: Fallen Order. According to PC Gamer, that should be the first one up, at around 17:30 our time.

As for the rest of the event, I want to see/hear about Cyberpunk, From's next project, whatever Rocksteady have been working on, and the Devolver Digital show. Marvel Avengers from Crystal Dynamics will be officially revealed as well. It's going to be co-op, so that has my interest for now.

Anything you're looking forward to, or is everyone completely over this now? Any predictions (other than the endless sequels/next instalments of long-running franchises)? Any surprise announcements you'd like (new Splinter Cell for me, please)?

I used to look forward to E3 a few years back, getting to see the latest and greatest games and how they are coming along.

Now its a load of ********. Half are the games are representations and dont represent the final version whatsoever. Ubisoft are top of the class when it comes to downgrades amongst others. I'll watch highlights posted on certain website but im always very very cautious of any "in game" footage.

For me its a chance to see whats on the horizon and i take a large pinch of salt with it.

Looking forward to it :D I assume this will be the last year for this generation - so it’s always usually pretty impressive!

Looking forward to some more Death Stranding, and also the games that are included in the PC XBOX Live Games program!

I totally get the cynicism, and as @Cobra-UK says, take everything you see with a healthy dose of salt.

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. Pricing will be key.

In other news, THQ will be showing a new Darksiders at E3, with the new game taking the series in a "fresh direction".

And Rebellion will be showing something of Evil Genius 2. Loved the first one, albeit not done by Rebellion.

u mean Darksiders?

E3 these days is nothing more than an echo chamber where paid shills praise games based on 'footage' that looks nothing like the final product.

I have a bit of sympathy here, AAA games are so ridiculously expensive to make that there must be huge pressure to start the hype years before launch. Either you tie yourself to early decisions even when they prove to be bad, or you eventually ship something that's diverged from the early demos. I see early E3 stuff as more of a pitch than anything else.

I assume you saw the speculation about BGIII?

Latest on BG&E2.

Haha yes I did! Just finished DOS2.

I'm not sure if Larian can actually write a completely serious game.

I love DOS1/2 but I'd love for them to make a game with a much more mature lore-based less cheeky storyline which took itself much more seriously. I feel like the tongue in cheek genre has gone as far as it can with DOS2 being the pinnacle. It'd be awesome if they'd do a change of tone.

I wouldn't be shocked if the audience becomes a firing squad when Bethesda come on stage, unless they're shills that is.

(*Obvious exaggeration to clarify for the simple folk)

Microsoft will be the highlight for me. Game Pass on PC, see how that's going to work and news on the next Xboxes.

Same. Though I suspect there won't be a huge amount on next gen stuff. It'll be new Xbox/PC games, game pass, more info on the streaming service, and a brief mention of the next gen consoles. If there's a big surprise to come, it'll be Xbox games on more platforms (possibly via streaming).

Also looking forward to Nintendo's showcase. Lots of their "2019" games have very little footage and info as yet.

The PC Gaming Show sponsored by Epic Games should be fun. Epic Exclusive! Epic Exclusive! Epic Exclusive! Epic Exclusive! :D
