My dad gave me his 386 dx 40 with a soundblaster pro in 1993, was it worth horrendous amounts?

I ran it full screen in low if i remember right, was jealous of my friend running it in high on his 486 and then pentium 1, but he had a horse stable in his garden and a 7 bedroom house so meh

the 2070S is the same speed as a 2080 so .....how can that be mid and not high in your hypothesis ?

@easyrider The serious answer is that it's always a moving target.

The 2080 will be phased out for the 2080 S which will then be the start of the high-end in my estimation.

The 2070 S doesn't get to be high-end*, because it's not based on absolute performance, but what's above and below it.

Otherwise, the low-end would still be the low-end from 2000~, or whenever the first proper GPUs came on.

As stuff gets older it goes from being high-end to mid-range to low-end to being used to prop the shed door open.

For the time being I would suggest the 2080 is still high end, and *if the 2070S really does match it, then it gets to be high-end for a short time. When the 2080 S comes out, the 2070 S drops back into the mid-range.

This is all just my opinion, of course.

Maybe some people will see the 2070 S as high end. And maybe they're right.

I will not even consider the possibility of the 2060 S being high end tho! That way lies madness!

Personally I'd say yes right now 1080Ti is high end. Until the 2080 S comes out. After that it's upper mid-range. And believe me, I wish it was mid-range right now, because of its age like you say. But we all know we're getting drip fed upgrades from this point on. 5% here, 10% there. 15% if you're lucky.

Objectively, atm only the 2080 Ti and the Titan RTX beats it, right?

So with only two cards above it it has a decent claim to being high-end, imho.

e: Although in some benchmarks the 2080 (non-S) does beat the 1080Ti by a decent chunk, iirc.
