AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

You're guys are doing the self-justification thing wrong.

You look at the 3900X and see it's too expensive.
You look at the 3600X and then consider the 3700X because it's not much of a jump for the gain
Having settled on the 3700X the 3800X appears to be in reach and you mull over it
Feeling cheeky you settle on the 3800X and come to terms with that
Having come to terms with the 3800X the gap between it and the 3900X is smaller than the 3600X
You've completely forgotten you were ever considering the 3600X at this stage
You buy a 3900X

:D

Haha you joke about that but i was sat here trying to convince myself i dont need the 3900X to go with my x570 Taichi :P *must not give in, must not give in*

IMO buying a i7 9 series chip now is ABSOLUTE MADNESS. If you have decided to go Intel because you are unhappy with the Zen 2 launch then at the very least wait to see what happens with pricing.

Wait until you get a shipping notification tomorrow.

Out of interest Gibbo, why have you only got the 3600 in stock ? It's not like this release could possibly have come as a shock to OCUK or AMD. I'm not looking to buy at the moment bye the way (waiting for September for that), but if i was looking to buy i would expect product in stock.

Is it though? A 9700k is only £30 more than a 3700x on here, and the 9700k is (very very very slightly) faster in the majority of games.

It's a genuine question. I've been staunchly Intel for 20 years, and was ready to make the jump....but having seen the reviews, I'm now not quite so sure.

Beautiful. :D

Had a change of plan. Went for the Asrock Taichi X570 and 3700 X. Drop in a faster CPU later. Saved £300 over what I'd planned. Still have a GPU and monitor to buy so that was a factor.

Hoping that will be a decent combination.

Also remember that Intels current line up is full of security issues

I was all ready to pull the trigger today on a new system to replace my 4790K etc. Decided now that I'm going to hold on for some more reviews and maybe some testing with more mature BIOS releases.

Thinking about a 3700X but need to know if the extra cash for the 3800X is worth it and how annoying those pesky little fans are on the X570s.

AMD did not ship earlier enough. Our orders were placed months ago, as always we are in the hands of the supplier, no shock to us, we've done everything spot on, because we are awesome like that.

I'm happy with the result.

Well that's all that matters, at the end of the day. If it lives up to what you were after , then great, enjoy it.

..but for me, 24hrs ago the best pure gaming CPU was (IMO) the 9700K, and it still is, especially for me who is heavily into emulators where IPC & clock speed are king...9700K, long live the king :)

Thats why i asked the question. Save myself £15 lol

Slightly disappointing Ryzen 3000 isn't closer to Intel in games, however 8% to the 9900K at 1080P is not far from what i was expecting, which was around 5%, at 1440P which with a 2080TI is a more realistic res for that GPU there is almost nothing in it.

Productivity the 3900X just destroys the 9900K and does that with far less power consumption, really really impressive.

Overall i think pretty good. :)

Not many people paying £400 for a cpu, to play it at 1080p.
