It's too hot :(

I've had a portable aircon unit for the last 10 years. Still works great. Let it run in the bedroom for 1-2 hours before going to bed and the room is nice and chilly. I just hang the hose out of the windows and lower the blinds over it to help stop heat coming back in. Not ideal but for the couple of months its needed each year it does the job and was very cheap.
Those are extremely useful for nights like the last one. We had to sleep naked which I haven't done since sleeping above a kitchen in a hotel in 40c Turkey.

We went with a professional aircon install for the house back in March when there wasn’t a waiting list and increased prices because everyone wants it fitted last week. A split inverter system with 3 units. Right now, it’s the best money I’ve ever spent and will also heat in the winter.

We haven’t even changed the high tog duvet - it’s blissful. kitchen/living around is currently a cool 19c

What was cost?

When I've been abroad and stayed in properties via Airbnb, I just assumed those shutters were for security
My grandparents live in mid France and whenever I visit if someone forgets to close the shutters during the day you're in for a sweaty night, they make a massive difference.

Nudged 40 there today, not as bad as the last heatwave a few weeks back when it was over 45

I think I'm the only one who found today being noticeably cooler than yesterday. :p

Weekend forecast is making me sad.

It's been bit cooler here to day with more clouds and at 21:52 cooler than last night ..Tho expected 31c here Thursday and I have to do lots of running around doing crap grrrr

Down to 19c Sat and 18c Sun ...nice

Glad I've got a 'line-of-sight through draft' due to being in a long and thin shaped flat. Not much good during the day, but at night it can really help make temperatures tumble even when there's very little wind like now. And when there is wind, it's like a hurricane of cool air shoots through the entire place soaking up the heat.

I am still waiting for someone to invent a portable aircon unit that doesnt require house modifications to use.
Yeah, those air con units with hoses hanging out of open windows seem pointless, as a lot of the cool air will also escape through the same window.

Eh? Surely most of them come with a bit of plastic that wedges in an open window, that the hose connects to/exits through?
