Good morning guys,
I’m looking at purchasing a Ford Galaxy and have noticed a lot of 2016 models that are mostly black and have over 100k miles on them. Does anyone know if these cars were mainly used as taxis somewhere? I don’t want to end up purchasing an car that was previously used as a taxi as I know it’s common knowledge that drivers regularly clock the mileage back.

A lot of lower-end “executive car” companies that can’t afford Vianos/Vitos use them as well.

The mileage might be true, but if they are ex-AL vehicles, that 100K will feature a lot of stop-start city driving and long periods of idling.

The S-Max. It's very similar to the Galaxy but looks a bit better in my opinion. Still 7 seats, just a little less room in the 'boot' area if you can call it that.

Actually after looking at the Galaxy again I think the S-Max looks a lot better. They're also cheaper and less likely to have been used as a taxi too :)

Surely the price reflects the mileage and condition.
I think the days of clocking back are pretty long gone for most cars.

This is always surely the choice when buying a used car, age vs mileage.
When I bought my first car I was advised to go younger with higher mileage from a garage owner my father knew. He basically said if you go young with high mileage your going to get mileage related issues so more likely wheel bearings, brake pads that sort of thing, if you go older with lower mileage your more likely to get those sorts of issues, coroding brakes, hard rubber bushes splitting, etc.
He also said if a car has been used for someone making a living they tend to be more focussed on it running so do service etc, where as lower mileage ones can be more likely to have skipped servicing etc.
 
Why don't you want an ex taxi? They are usually very well maintained. My current Mondeo is an ex taxi and its still going strong at 146k. Apart from an over worn side bolster on the drivers dude, you couldn't tell its been used as a taxi.

vomit is actually a rare occurence tbh, i get more from my kids and dogs than punters.

depends on who owns the car, owner driver chances are its been well maintained broken car means no earnings
fleet owner run into the ground and maintained as cheaply as possible that said we have a fleet and ours are all running decent branded rubber and get nothing but genuine ford parts even down to the petty stuff like wiper blades. and i refuse to fit anything other than genuine ford (not motorcraft btw) pads, on trade account the cost difference isnt that great and piece of mind is worth it, and i'll probably get told i'm wrong but genuine parts in a lot of cases are better quality( ie pads the genuine factory spec ford pads outlast even the ford own brand stuff(motorcraft) by at least 20% filters are literally pennies of a difference when you buy a dozen at a time and decent oil is dirt cheap buying it by the drum
