Wait. The gap only starts becoming significant at 2080S and above. The GTX 1080 is still a capable 4K card, but you do have to tweak settings. Maybe try 1800p more, instead of straight up 4K when in-game.

Ok thanks for the advice, i will stick with what I have for now then and carry on playing it on 1440p 120hz.

its aimed at 1440p, but i believe the vega cards are ok at 4k with a few settings turned down, so i suspect the 5700xt will be just fine.

if you want to play it completely safe go for a 2080, but imo they're horrifically over priced.

Ok thanks I will wait then, I dont want Nvidia because my tv is freesync and I don't think they do it with hdmi, unless my info is out of date? I would get Nvidia if the freesync worked,

I gave you a very clear meta-analysis of a whole host of benchmarks.
Where? I'm old and blind, but not that blind.

Trading blows with each other. If 10% equates to 3-7fps when you're already in the 80s then you're clutching at straws.

Holding its own in 1440 Ultrawide

Apologies if posted already

Nope, still in there.

And this is with the messy, broken drivers too. Only going to get better.

And enough of the "pom poms" bull, OK? Have a conversation, chew the fat over differing opinions or jog the f on.

I have some serious doubts about that tweak town SOTR FPS they are reporting higher fps at 1440p ultra wide than I can get on 2560x1440 with a huge over clock. So I'm pretty sure that's just bs lol.

But overall the 2070S is a higher performing card, and if the price difference is marginal surely it makes the most sense?

Don't get me wrong I love my 5700XT I think it performs great for 375, however change that to 430/450 even as high as 500 and then it changes the story completely.

That's the crux of my argument: £50-70 is not marginal.

And even if they were a pack of smokes apart, some would go down the Navi route for their features. And also Fine Wine is unfortunately a thing, so for those whose GPU purchase is an investment, the Navi kit will have longer legs. Hell, the drivers are using GCN emulation right now to get the ball rolling; what could we see with a proper RDNA driver base?

Doesn't the 5700XT match the 2070s in some games and get beaten in others. If that's so then surely the 5700XT is the better long term option. Fine wine etc

Pretty much every single AMD card in history has only gotten faster/better with each driver update, same can't be said for nvidia hardware.

nvidia tend to ditch the improvements and focus on the new gen which gives rise to the rumors of them deliberately gimping through drivers so users look at buying the newer stock. I personally couldn't visualise them steeping that low, but its quite true the AMD improvements through drivers over time closes any gaps or sometimes surpasses i.e. vega 56 leaping the 1070 by a decent margin.

I just want a solid driver tbh, got BSOD's and little niggles since I had it, and I stated with 19.7.5! 5 iterations and still a bit dodgy, they seem to be a bit half-baked still.

They better sort their **** out by the time the AiB's hit!!
