None of the Volvos of that era are slow though. They all have 5 cylinder turbo engines, ranging from 180 to 300hp

Mine is going hopefully today to be replaced with a Lexus barge, but I definitely want a 2.4 T5 in future. (mine is a 2.3 T5 with around 300HP)
very few roads around here, a10 included, where you can overtake a cyclist without crossing road centre, and ability of oncoming drivers to estimate where they will intercept/overtake a cyclist is poor, usually put on the side/headlights temporarily 300m out, to remind them I am here and they need to get it together/decide -

Ever thought about being considerate to other road users and not blocking the entire carriageway so faster vehicles can overtake safely?

How was he blocking the entire carriageway if there was a three abreast close pass? If he was cycling in the middle of the lane that couldn't happen, which, funnily enough, is why I cycle in the middle of the lane if I think there's a risk of something like that happening, as per the advice of British Cycling and the local police. Mainly because a minority of road users don't know how to give the correct gap when overtaking, you know, as the highway code states.

I thought by 3 abreast pass they meant: cyclist-van-car (2 in one direction, 1 in the other) rather than 3 cyclists next to eachother being overtaken, but happy to be corrected on that one

yes you really have to resign yourself to that .. and ask could I have seen him earlier and repositioned the car to avoid the bottleneck.

Undertaking is the act of moving to the left lane to pass a car on the left. If you're already in a lane and are going faster than the car on the right that isn't undertaking.
I'm not convinced it's merge when someone is in the wrong lane, technically they are cutting into my lane.
From the pic he's moving into another lane so beepy mcbeepface has right of way so yeah, OP is cutting him up.
In any case, i wouldn't worry about a beep. We've all made mistakes, all mine because of road layouts and/or other drivers of course...
Beepers don't care about layout changes or road works though, you're automatically expected to be 100% at all times! But not them, they can avoid being totally on the ball everywhere
Partially correct - passing on the left without changing lanes is only allowed in congested conditions on motorways, in slow moving queuing traffic or when the undertaken vehicle is indicating to turn right:

You're partially correct as well lol. You said only in congested situations. hat's not what the highway code says. Aside from congestion, if a car is hogging any lane to your right and you're maintaining a steady speed and you happen to pass them, you've done nothing wrong.
