I've had an iPhone 6 for about 4 years now and it's been great, no issues whatsoever... until now. Somehow its got bent and now looks like this...

It still works absolutely fine but obviously this isn't ideal given the inside of the phone is now exposed to things like dust, liquid etc... it's only going to get more bent and deteriorate over time. The actual screen doesn't seem to be bent, just the main casing.

I've never had an iPhone or any phone repaired before so i'm wondering if this is fixable or not or whether I should just order a new phone (something id rather not do).

Any advice is welcome

Has the battery expanded by any chance? If so that could be the cause of the "bend", the battery will probably need to be replaced and Apple might cover it for cheap and even "repair" the bent chassis.

anywhere near an apple store (though even if they offer a fix you'll probably be bent over cost wise) failing that a local screen repair guy - removing the screen and bending it back into shape would seem the simplest option?

edit: never thought of the above re the battery.

Been a while since I’ve seen a bent 6+
Won’t be the battery, likely caused by back pocket sitting .. the Alu used in the 6 isn’t really all that strong

Apple will offer replacement with 90 day warranty for £309 I believe

You can buy aftermarket enclosures but it’s a mission taking everything out and back in

Thanks for the response chaps. £309 for a replacement seems quite expensive ? are they still worth that much ? surely I could just get a second hand one in good condition for way cheaper ?

Will apple offer replacements even if it's out of warranty ? Im thinking I might just take it to a local repair shop where they reckon they can 'bend it back into shape' as if it had never been bent in the first place... they are only charging £30 for it as well.

Will apple offer replacements even if it's out of warranty ?

In the same way that your friendly local garage will repair your out-of-warranty car for a suitable fee :)

£309 is indeed a ridiculous price and as you said, a second hand model would be far cheaper. Music Magpie, for example, are offering a second hand 'good' iphone 7 for £195 and you might be able to find one even cheaper on ebay where there's a 10pc off code in operation today for many retailers. I also saw a 64gb iPhone 8 for £310.

Get on ifixit and search for screen replacement on that model, (it's easy) remove screen bend back replace screen.
Chassis replacement ain't so easy as it's bloody fiddly!
Either way ensure you backup the phone first as even a shop may destroy it :D

search for screen replacement on that model
the screens the minor issue .. the bending/fracturing on internal circuit boards more of an issue ... trying to straighten it probably not advisable you'd break them.
think I would get some silicon sealant, put a bead round the edge and live with it.

If everything is working fine then can't imagine some local place will be bad for repair, basically just need new housing?

My mate had one that bent a bit like like this and his local place fixed it for a few quid. Less than a new screen, as obv, it doesn't need a new screen. just needs the screen removing the chassis straightened and the screen replaced. Didn't look good as new but worth the few quid.

My mum had an bent iPad repaired on insurance and that came back like new. That's something to think about too. Wasn't an expensive thing.

The mrs had a 6 go this way, she likes to wear baggy cardigan type things and she had it in the pocket and managed to shut it in the car door. Luckily it wasn't done with too much gusto so had about an 5/6 degree bend but still functioned okay when it was still being used!

She did end up getting a chassis replacement from one of the million phone fix places, it did work for a bit but then she dropped it in the bath...
