Report driver on phone?

Can you confirm from the photo that the driver was having a conversation on a phone?

The driver could argue is was a wallet, piece of plastic, cookie. Watched a video the other day of someone baking cookies in the shape and colour of a phone, when pulled over by the police for being on his phone he took a bite out of the cookie.

so many things wrong in this world.. and your going on about driving while on a phone ?
it happens all the time. you notice it more when your on a bike and they pull out in front of you ..
for me it's when they don't signal or signal 2 sec before they turn or move lanes

It happens to you all the time but you don't think it's worth reporting. Are you aware of the oddness of your post?

even if reported do you think people change ? creatures of habit we all do something not quiet right ..

Does that make it ok?

Slightly off topic but still relevant, have you or a loved one ever been the victim of an nasty car crash? Sometimes it takes people seeing their loves ones' brains smeared all over the road to realise that reducing risk whilst using the roads is generally a good idea.

My younger son fell foul of this a few years ago, by an over zealous copper, who maybe needed to go to Specsavers.
He drives a four axled eight wheeler large roll on roll off skip truck, and at the time, was in the early stages of growing a beard.
As he drove through Finchley, he put his hand up to scratch his cheek, a cop coming toward him, mistook that for him phoning.
He was stopped, and they checked his SIM with his phone service provider, this exonerated him, and all the copper said to him was, “Be careful in future!”

As my skin is sensitive to sunlight I often find my self scratching my ear when the sun is blazing, to others it may look like I am holding a phone upto my ear.

The problem with attitudes like that is the reason why people flout the law regarding phone use in the first place.

Right, so you want a society where citizens film others committing minor offences, then report them to the police. What about going through an amber light when it was safe to stop, or doing 80 on the motorway? Would you take pictures of them and report them as well?

It amazes me that adults who I assume have families, jobs, hobbies etc will consider that a valid use of their time. I also assume they’ve never broken any law in their entire lives?

Yeah why bother with those pesky traffic laws, let's scrap em all

The amount of people who use their phone whilst driving is pretty scary if you ask me.

A while back I even saw someone doing 70 on the motorway with his phone on top of his steering wheel texting!

Something needs doing.

No one is suggesting that. What is being suggested, is that filing some guy 'cut you up' on a roundabout that you accelerated into, and sending that to the police (or uploading to YouTube) is a waste of anyones life.

Reporting someone on the phone is a different matter. It's incredibly dangerous and should definitely be reported

Yet people consider arguing about such things and other minor issues with random faceless strangers on the internet a worthwhile way of spending their lives.

Odd isn't it.

Or maybe don't break them in the first place

Nobody said anyone broke laws other than the guy using the phone. My point is, why not just move on with your life and forget about it instead of acting like a wannabe police officer? If the driver continues using the phone all the time, I’m sure he’ll be caught eventually.

Why not just report it if you have evidence and then get on with your life? Do you ignore every crime you see would you "just move on with your life and forget about it" if you saw someone breaking into your neighbours house or is it just motoring offences its fine to ignore?

Some people just don't care. Recently I was sitting in my car at my wife's work waiting for her to finish when I heard some awful screaming and very evident beating coming out of a flat across the road. I called the cops who promptly came out, when I asked others if they heard the screaming they simply said yes, as if it was the most normal thing in the world, and just carried on with their days

The cops rang me later that evening to thank me, a woman was arrested for violently assaulting her partner and it was their kid who was screaming. She was arrested and in custody.

Or maybe just try this radical idea of letting the police enforce the laws.

What police? They're at record lows! Why shouldn't citizens enforce laws when we're the ones impacted by lawbreakers?

Would you just sit with your thumb up your arse if a woman was being raped in front of you?

Of course not but you can't compare it to that crime it's in totally different context and severity.

Beside's the raper might have a weapon on them so by getting involved you may end up getting killed or injured. But I guess in your eyes that's OK? Because you stoped a rape.

Its up to the Police to enforce the laws and the government to introduce harder sentences and fines to deter offenders.
