Hi all my partner is at uni now and needs a new laptop as her old one is busted.
She’s doesn’t play games on it it’s mainly for general browsing and her uni work so needs to be quick but not gaming or editing sort of quick.
ive only ever had intel so I was looking for some I-5 range stuff but in theory she could use amd however I have no idea what one would be good as I’ve never owned one.

budget no more than £600

many suggestions would be much appreciated

Size and weight doesn’t matter either, she wants the new razor stealth 13 in the limited edition pink if that helps haha, and nope it’s not available in UK and costs double.

she’s studying accounting but I assume just the standard keyboard would suffice. She’s doesn’t care about screen size really as she just can’t cope with her phone screen.

My missus does accounting and specifically wanted the keypad which is why I asked and she loves taking up my 43inch 4k screen for big workbooks, there comes a point when small screens won't do :D

I thought the number pad would be handy for that I mean what’s accounting if it’s not numbers but she’s not worried apparently. To be honest I’d go with 15.6” but she’s happy with what ever size, if it’s small it will fit in her bag but if it’s big she’s can sit at it better at home. just can’t find any that are in stock or for a good price

Niche option for less bang for buck - gpd pocket 2 during a sale. Would require some technical skill to setup/tweak to maximise performance. I have the first version, 2 secnds to boot, use office/software deelopment/games

Damn that’s small isn’t it, thanks for the insight but it’s a little too small, she’s not looking for compact so a standard 13” screen up to 16” would be better suited. She tells me now that she doesn’t mind a gaming laptop but as long as it’s not thick looking

Got me an ASUS Zenbook S UX391, has an i5 8250U, 8GB Ram, 256GB SSD
Keyboard is lovely considering it's chiclet style
Batter life is darn good so far - up to 9 hours just puttering around and can be had for around the 600 squids price range
Oh - and she'll love the colour! (metallic purple)

They look alright cheers I’ll have a look into it properly and show her. Typical woman more interested in colour than performance. It could have a potato as a cpu but as long as it was wrapped in shiny metallic pink or rose gold shed nab it
