Currently weighing up whether to stick with Samsung and buy a Tab S6 10.5" , or go with the iPad pro 11" , I know the Samsung Tablet has a 16:10 aspect ratio so apparently won't suffer too much letterboxing of video (thinking mainly prime video and Netflix)

However....

I was looking into the iPad's aspect ratio and saw that it's now 10:7 on the latest one, What does that actually translate to? Do videos fill the screen? I'd be interested to hear from anyone that has one. Also can the iPad Pro 11" display the highest HD setting of Netflix (Think they call it UHD) or is it just HD ?

I don't think videos fill the screen, if you want it full screen it crops them a little. The Pro 11 can play videos in 4K HDR but only with a display connected via USB-C.

I use my Pro 11 a lot for Netflix but the OLED screen on the Samsung is likely better for video streaming. However tablet apps are definitely superior on the iPad.

Nice machine but at a £1000.00 ? looked at in Apple this week, i did like but can't justify paying that amount of money.

I use a Pro 11 but no way would I justify its expense for Netflix or Prime.

What its really good at imho is the folio keyboard (also expensive), the Pencil2 charging, high screen refresh for the pencil response, the 4k rear camera and split screen. Face ID is fast and frees up more screen space. With the newer iPad OS you can attach USB-C storage which alleviates one of the big historical iPad weaknesses.

No audio jack which is a pain, though you can get a USB-C HiRes DAC to 3.5mm audio cable BUT of course then you can't use the USB C port for charging or storage at the same time.

In short unless you want to use some of the iPad Pro features/benefits its a very expensive option

I've had a chance to try both the Tab S6 and the latest iPad pro now, The blacks are definitely better on the samsung device. However the pencil is superior. I think i'm going to sit on my hands till the next offering from either apple or samsung and hope one device does it all!

As for aspect ratio, Wasn't really an issue in the end, just an odd number i hadn't seen for a device before.

oh and I forgot to mention, the speakers on the iPad Pro are very good considering the size and form factor. You wouldn't rely on them for music but TV or Streaming services like Twitch they are fine
