As title, my 970 while running fine is really suffering in VR games, I was going to get a 1080ti but bought a house instead then the prices went stupid.

Been tempted by the MM but think I'd prefer something new with warranty, and a bit more current gen.

Obviously a 970 to 2070S would be a decent upgrade, just want to make sure before I pull the trigger that it's a sensible option.

I know the next series of cards are on the horizon but I can't wait forever, already put this upgrade off for 18 months, lack of frames in VR is making me feel sick now.

Stupid or not? 2070S is top of my budget and I'd probably be waiting another 6 years to upgrade

Yes 2070 super or 5700xt

I wouldn't buy a used 1080ti now.

Buying a used 1080ti is very high risk you are talking £400 for one with decent warranty and £350 without.

How mad would you be dropping £350 and it died the week after?

Also warranty is usually not transferable with hoops to jump through to get the original buyer to make a claim so the money wasted on postage and packaging wouldn't really be worth it even if it did break as you could have just gotten a 2070 super.

As above 5700xt or 2070 super brand new. Both come with free games.

What's stupid is waiting so long between upgrades. Instead of getting a 2070S now you'd be better off buying a 5700 on Black Friday and pocketing the difference for another upgrade in 2-3 years.

Nothing stupid with waiting at all, the 970 has been a cracking card considering I'm only upgrading for a bit of futureproofing and VR

Done it anyway, went for the 2070s that's on offer. Will last me for as many years at the 970 fingers crossed.

indeed, what a bizarre opening line to respond to you with but hey ho - it's the gpu forum, can be as daft as GD some days!

you won't be disappointed mate, though i might have been tempted to hang fire to see what BF brings to the pricing.

Aye, apparently there's refund on the cards if the prices drop further.

As you know I've been talking about an upgrade for two years so just had to do it for once!
