Asus x99 pro

Having a bit of a mare. Had a dodgy HDD and tried getting files off it. Disconnected and rebooted only to find will not post and error 70 coming up on board. Tried flashback with usb but flickers 3 times then nothing. Seems I have bricked my bios. But if that's the case what the hell is flashback for. Anyone get me out of this nightmare? TIA.

If it’s a BIOS issue, then surely you have a dual BIOS set-up? If so switch to the secondary BIOS.

There is no dual bios on this board. Would have been a piece of cake if there was.

I haven't tried it with the rename tool as I just renamed it myself. Will give it a go when I get home on Wednesday. Cheers

I had problems when i renamed it myself, don't know why but the rename tool works every time and i have used it a lot on my Asus CH6. If its still does not work, try a different usb drive, i have two and one works and the other does not, also make sure its in the flashback usb port.

That a reasonably well specified x99 (HEDT) board doesn’t come with a dual BIOS is laughable or from op’s perspective, tragic. The MSI/ASRock equivalents do, that ASUS think it’s OK to skip this kind of sucks.

Yeh you would have thought so... But maybe they didn't feel the need to due to flashback.

Is it 68 or 6B? Although not directly related ASUS modified the socket and have a nasty habit of killing CPU’s by throwing stupid voltages through them in certain BIOS versions.

68 mate. Have bought a 6800k now with mobo and ram. Arrives on Friday. Will test what is knackered and sell whatever ain't. Cheers all for the help anyways
