Who has a voice assistant in the bedroom?

I have an Echo dot in the bedroom. Mainly used to turn off the electric blanket and start a sleep hypnosis track (from Prime) we go to sleep.
She also plays music when we need to cover... *ahem* noises.
I know all the talk about spies in our homes etc but if Amazon listen to my household all they'll get is inane BS and rows with the kids over chores. Good luck making money off that.

Have a Echo Dot, very useful for controlling lights and fans whilst in bed (for those times when you get comfortable and then realise you need to move to turn the light off).

Also means if i have visitors, like this week, and I hear them going downstairs in the morning, then i can remotely turn the lights on they will need without getting up.

I do. I used to wake up to BBC radio before they pulled it from Tunein

I used to stick Radio 2 on my Echo dot when I got home from work and was getting changed and making food etc, and then one day it was gone :( and I assume it's a liscence issue? At work I'd use my phone as my radio and again would use TuneIn :( now I just use iPlayer.

Don't have one anywhere. Don't see the point in them and can't understand why people are so happy to actually pay a large corporation to have electronic spybots in their homes.

I have an Echo in the bedroom and a dot in the living room.

Use it mainly for music and radio in the bedroom and waking me up in th3 morning with the weather and news. Need to get some smart bulbs soon as want to get my home more smart, lol.

Me I have an echo dot in my bedroom and I've set it up so when I say Alexa good morning she turns my upstairs light on, bedroom light on and puts the kettle on:p:D this way I definitely get out of bed because the light blinds me lol

so you've no mobile phone, pc, internet?!

Well yeah, but I've spent a lot of time restricting what they do. Custom ROMs, all Google stuff stripped away, trying to use only FOSS apps, mic jammer, etc.

Certainly a bit different to a device designed with the sole purpose of listening to you.

IIRC, he's obsessive about the worry that he's being actively spied on.

Nope, nothing to hide. No dodgy porn, no criminal activities, etc.

"Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say." - Edward Snowden

I'm not obsessive. I'm hopeful that one day what I and many others do will just become the norm. It's what every person should already be doing if they even slightly care about their data and privacy. :)

[..] Don't really use the voice side of it much apart from sometimes to tell the alarm to shut up. [..]

I often hear one of my neighbours calling out "Alexa, stop!", sometimes several times in succession. I have this image of Alexa saying "Let's play global thermonuclear war" :)

I use HomeKit for everything so I can just use my phone although I’m tempted to pick up another HomePod to use as a TV speaker in the bedroom.

It’s all automated so lights turn on in the bedroom, kitchen, living room, kids bedrooms at 6am. I did have it set to play music in the bathroom when I turn my alarm off but as with most things in iOS 13, it was a little buggy so I turned it off.
