Finally, I get my day in court!

Rotten news Vidar :-(

I'm not sure if I would have posted that mugshot while the case was still in court though? I think posting images, their names and other info like that can affect court cases and could backfire / go into the defendant's favour. Even if the case has finished, that image and their names is now indexed and searchable on the net. If the defendant's or his associates sees it, it'll just push them further into hiding.

Just remember, the whole criminal justice system is all based on victim focus - or so everyone is told.

This is precisely why the police will always struggle with public relations. What's the point when the courts are on a different planet?
My parents hometown now literally has vigilante groups roaming on a night time because the police and courts were so ineffectual.

That's ******* disgusting. Then again, the police and the criminal justice system in this country are an absolute joke. Go to the press, what have you got to lose?

[..] What really wound me up today though was that absolute ******* disgrace former colleague of mine being there in the Witness suite, not by his own choice he'd been summoned and wasn't happy about being there. Yet despite sharing a room with me for most of the day he didn't so much as look at me or bother talking to me. Just stared at the floor, couldn't help but just shake my head in utter disbelief. Guilty conscience much? You're likely still here because I stepped in to protect you, you've not missed a nights work or had anything to deal with since it happened. Yet not only do you not bother yourself to visit me in hospital but you can't even look at me or speak to me when we're in a room together. You absolute helmet! It just makes me so angry! I'm not expecting him to kiss the ground I walk on or anything just some blasted acknowledgement. [..]

My interpretation is that they're too ashamed to face you. Literally as well as figuratively.

Unlucky but not unexpected. Nowhere near as bad injuries received but a mate and I were assaulted by 6 guys, there were several witnesses and two had previous. 5 went to court because one pleaded guilty (jury was not permitted to be told this information). Every single one of them was given legal aid, who stood up in turn and asked the exact same question as the previous one, was an utter farce.

They got driven back and forth from court, free meals and a rest room while we got told we couldn't speak to anyone, shown where the canteen was and made to sit in an unheated foyer until we were called, we were warned in court by the sitting judge not to travel together and make our own way there at our own expense.

I was left facially scarred for life and lost or broke several teeth which cause ongoing problems and has cost me thousands in the subsequent years, my mate got a broken jaw and like me was scarred for life.

They got......let off for lack of evidence. **** the UK court system, I've never reported anything ever since and wouldn't, nor would I give a statement or be a witness. This occurred 20 years ago for info.

Where did this happen @Vidar and do you remember if they seemed to be a single group?

I'm guessing some time on social media with the ocuk detectives may be able to find a name

Oh they were definitely a single group, all arrived together in the same cab. Ran off and left in another cab together. They all know each other even the detective commented on that.

This all happened in Liverpool city centre on fathers day 2018.

So... beating crime with crime? I certainly get the desire, but the lack of transparency/scrutiny almost certainly mean's it's not going to help. I think the most obvious example are the 'paedo hunters', where the overall benefit was somewhere between zero and jeopardising investigations/chance of conviction, likely similar across the board.

Wrt to the police, they're trying to do their jobs with limited resources and there's not much that can be done about it until they can return to heavy patrolling and rebuilding community rapport.

Wrt to the courts and ergo prison, it's a simple problem, either the taxpayer starts shelling out for hundreds more prisons to deal with the 700000 or so prosecutions though discounting re-offenders at ~50% (The prison service costed £3.4 billion last year for just ~80k prisoners...) or maybe there's a better solution than just assuming everyone is a lost cause, and thus lost potential.

I think the big problem is moral-less, money-grabbing, career-furthering, selfish ***** I mean lawyers

Would have thought most people wouldn't be able to afford it anyway? Legal aid was cut, so i imagine most people being prosecuted are just going without representation.

Since i've never had to deal with courts or the police I don't quite know how it works for the plebs.

Are you sure they are from Liverpool and the names Leonard and Paul holt are correct?

What if we identify the person in photo you piste

Yes the names are correct as per the CPS documents I was given and I'm told by the detective that they're from Liverpool.

If I can get this guy identified, while I'd certainly like nothing more than reach down his throat and pull his heart out I'd be passing the information on to the police and seeing what they did with it.

Well hopefully in a few years they'll slip up, decide to go on social media again etc.. even if under a fake name.

Have you tried local Facebook groups near where they live... I'd wager if someone were to name the other two in a local FB group, post the picture of the main guy as a person the police are interested in speaking to and offer a reward for anyone willing to name/locate him then you'd find him.

I got address and workplaces of Holt's but it's obvious they've scrubbed most of their online presence.

They'll probably stumble across this thread at some point too tbh...

@Vidar - can you get any local press interest after the trial perhaps, especially if they get off with some joke of a suspended sentence?

"Local doorman still in daily pain after vicious thugs get off lightly" etc.. get that shared to some local Facebook groups complete with a picture of the main guy they're still after and you might be in luck.

Daily mail would probably be interested in that. They love a story that riles the general populace up.
