doomsday prepper.

When you say everyone else will be shooting, how? How many people have access to a proper gun.

Well, Scotland has nearly 70k FAC holders with nearly 300k guns. The more rural you get, the more guns are going to be floating around. If you're out where there's an abundance of deer, you're in prime gun owners territory. The fact your neighbour owns a rifle proves that. If it's a big calibre rifle he'll be using it for deer since there's laws about the gun and ammo you can use to take deer legally. Nobody is legally taking deer with a .22

Here in Northern Ireland more than 100k are FAC holders with nearly 400k guns. And we're the one place in the UK that "self defence" is a legit reason to own a gun. Off the top of my head, between close and extended family and friends, hand guns on personal protection FACs are probably close to 30 individuals alone, and they own multiple guns. And that's a fraction of the number that also hold FACs and weapons for sporting purposes. Which covers hand guns in whatever calibre you want, including semi-automatics (no long barrel revolver only nonsense here), rifles from .22 to .50 and section 1 and 2 shotguns. There's a guy local to me that has a Barrett M95 that he got for "sporting" purposes. I'm not sure "obliterating anything you point it at" constitutes a sport. And as far as I know, the last military range here closed to the .50 cal club, so unless he goes to one of the long range military ranges in Great Britain, the M95 is just a very expensive gun safe decoration and talking piece. He also owns a .500 S&W for "sporting" purposes. Honestly, I think his "sport" is collecting firearms in stupid calibres.

Edit: I just had a look to see what the firearms numbers were like in England and Wales. Nearly 160k FAC holders and nearly 573k shotgun cert holders in 2019. There are nearly 1.4 million shotguns owned with 99% of them being section 2. 303 people under the age of 13 held a shotgun cert. The areas with the highest number of firearms on certs per 100k people was rural areas of North Yorkshire, Dyfed-Powys and Cumbria. And highest number of shotguns per 100k people was rural parts of Dyfed-Powys, Norfolk and Suffolk.

I think it's a good idea to learn survival. If there was an emp blast or something tomorrow, most people would die as they couldn't ask google how to survive.

I better be enjoying my retirement in NZ before this doomsday stuff happens.

Meh, I got a decent generator, can cook alright, I eat/work out okay, and got a bunch of first-aid stuff, dry food like rice (buy 25lbs at a time) oats (20lbs) and usually have 4-5 bottled water gallons. Oh, and I've watched loads of Primitive Technology etc vids on Youtyoob. Bet I'd survive at least 6 hours.

We have an 'SAS Survival guidebook' with lots of useful stuff in it. Plus, we have an inhouse physicist, 2 engineers, and a scientist.

3 of them, yes. Only 1 is trained to break a neck in a single blow in less than 1.5 seconds, however. I presume you are referring to using simple bodily means without accoutrements.

If that's the one written by Lofty Wiseman, then it's one of the best survivalist fundamentals books out there. Any other book written after it is a good supplemental book to have.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t realise there was so many holders and that amount of guns
