Phanteks Neon RGB

Hi all

So I built my new PC today but feel there is not enough light inside the case...

I've ordered the Phanteks Neon RGB strips 2x 400mm, they have a 3pin 5v connection however my motherboard has a 4pin 12v connection, is it OK to plug them into that header?

No you can't sorry
And the neon ones don't throw out as much light
Their main point is bending around things
Much better

So I'd need to buy some sort of connector

No because of the voltage difference it's not that simple
You need a hard to find box thing to allow it
Can't remember who makes it

I've just looked into all this for a new build and it is just not worth the hassle.

Do you have a phanteks case?
My luxe2 /719 the strips can be added to the case leds
Even if you get standard 12v phanteks leds you need the 5 quid adapter to connect to motherboard 4 pin

Yeah need to plan it because of the 5v and 12v thing
Plus all the makers using proprietory connectors too which is a pita

I have the Antec P120 case, I thought it would be OK going to that header, good job I checked, think I'll have to find something else to light my case up

No problem mate
You double check your motherboard doesn't have both 3 pin and 4 pin
Headers?
Main thing with 3 pin is each led can be a different colour at the same time
Meaning can get fancier effects

I will have to check the manual in a sec but going by the website its only 4 pin

That's a shame
There are some 12v neon strings if the
Bending around angles was what
You needed
Though ebay or Ali would be where to find those
If it's just to spread light standard led strips are better

Just checked, definitely both 4 pin 12v headers

i may get the single colour strips that are 12v just got to work out what colour

The standard 12v are available in rgb
Just that all the leds have to be the
Same colour at the same time
But doesn't mean you have to stick to
1 colour

I'll ring OCUK tomorrow and see if they can swap it for me..

Shouldn't be a problem
They even got dpd to pick up my return
As in strict lock down as my partners
Vulnerable so honestly not left
Home in 6 weeks

Yes they have
Fair enough their main competitor got
Next day delivery back on track a while ago
But they're a bigger company
And I returned something to ocuk and to
The competitor same day
My ocuk one was refunded yesterday was only collected Wednesday
But nothing from the competitor so far
So it's not just about will you get it
The day after you order
There's other considerations of what is good service too
