What retro things have you done today?

I'm thinking of putting a 486 in there but I'm not sure if I want to go with VLB or PCI... they're the same price and whilst VLB is a bit more exciting, the PCI board has IDD and FDD headers, a CR2032 battery and (I guess) better CPU support. But VLB is exciting... but expensive...

Honestly, as "interesting" as VLB cards are, I'd go with PCI.

@LewisRaz, my Labway sound card arrived, can you take a photo of the CT14 capacitor, as this one has indeed exploded!

Impressive, how is nothing else damaged / covered in electrolyte!

Yep, not going to complain though! There was "fluff" literally all over the I/O end of the card, but no damage underneath which is nice. Hopefully going to fix this up and use it with a dreamblaster x2.

Don't you already have a Super Socket 7 motherboard already ?@LewisRaz

That Board is an ACorp 5ALI61 Rev 2.2 Motherboard. There is a Modded Bios if you plan to run a K6-III+ Motherboard.

I wouldn't be paying £80 for it. I recently sold a Gigabyte GA-5AX Super Socket 7 Motherboard for the same price and I regard that as one of the top boards along with the Asus.

One thing to notice is it doesn't have the PS/2 port to connect a mouse so you will have to sort that out. Low ball him at £40 but no chance on that price.

I have about 5 socket 7s but no supers :(

I had to mod one of them to give the k6-3 the right voltage and even then that was using 66mhz bus speed.

I have an ISA serial card coming so the lack of PS2 isnt a problem :)

I'll slap a best offer in and see what happens. Cheers for the advice :)

You have pretty much everything covered when it comes to Win9x/Dos mate. I gather you want something to put into the Big case? You thought about Socket 775 or Socket 754? I use a Asus K8V SE Deluxe with a 3400+ which has full drivers for Win98. Makes for a real high end power house for Win 98. On the 775 There is the Asus P5P800 which is i865 775 with AGP and also compatible with Win98. I have the MATX Version (P5PE-VM) currently with a Xeon 3220 Cpu, 2gig Corsiar DDR 3500 and a Radeon XT850 PE. Would be a nice shift from your current batch of machines and look wicked in the big beast.

Yes mate just trying to get something for the big beast! I really feel like it should be suited to an older system! :)
