NVM couldn't get it working either.

But if you click share links on IMGUR and select the "BB code forums" and just paste it directly into the message box.

Hi yes I used square brackets around img then url Then square brackets around forwards slash img.

I copy and pasted the URL into the message so it was on hand.

The image is hidden on imgur but I didn’t think that stopped me linking to it.

I think you aren't including the .jpg part, if you visit the Imgur page hosting the image, instead of taking the URL from the address bar, right click the image and choose copy image address, doing that gives me https://i.imgur.com/TP9VaH7.jpg rather than https://imgur.com/a/DZRl8QT, which is think is the album link

Ahhhh yes that's it! i could see the missing file extension for shared links. But completely missed the i.imgur rather than just imgur.

@Semple @HecFam Yeah I think you’re both right. My link doesn’t have the .jpg as I copied it direct from the app via copy link which when pasted into the text plainly doesn’t have it or the i.imgur.

Thank you both for taking the time to help me.

Judging from HecFam post I need to resize image too :)

And dust down that bottle :p.

I'd put it in spoilers rather than resize.

Also a lot of people always have the insert image problem, the forums could do with some auto-correcting guidance to automatically swap in a i.imgur and end it with a .jpg.

To add the resize part, you can add an l to the end of the filename before the jpeg to resize it. I think there are others but can't remember. So instead of https://i.imgur.com/TP9VaH7.jpg, add an l after the 7 for https://i.imgur.com/TP9VaH7l.jpg and it comes the above.

Also, good choice, think I may have a bottle of one of theirs in the cupboard!

Edit: here we go, ripped from stackoverflow... add these letters to resize.

  • s = Small Square (90×90)
  • b = Big Square (160×160)
  • t = Small Thumbnail (160×160)
  • m = Medium Thumbnail (320×320)
  • l = Large Thumbnail (640×640)
  • h = Huge Thumbnail (1024×1024)

This is driving me to distraction now :D I’m still doing something wrong despite your excellent advice. I’ll come back to this at lunchtime. And once again thank you.

From what i can see on your last post, you've got this:

Code:
https://i.imgur.com/a/DZRl8QT.jpg.

need to remove that final full-stop - i'm guessing you're trying this on a phone, so autocorrect is probably ending it with a full-stop.

So I now understand all the faults I was making.
No i.imgur
No .jpg
Also using album link URL not image link URL which I had missed in HecFam's earlier response so I was getting an unobtainable image.

I learnt all this about 3 years ago then haven't used it and forgotten the lot. Now I can upload some more photos and embed in some posts.

@Semple @HecFam thanks for taking the time to help me with this it is greatly appreciated and has saved me a lot of swearing.

:D
