NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Awesome link, thank you mate. Got a move back to Europe happening in a couple of weeks and my PC will be shipped over seas in a shipping container along with everything else (least amount of risk of damage). So I'll have 4-6 weeks the other side before it arrives. Was wondering if any news of pre orders had come out or not.

Make sure to dismount heatsink, etc. :s

Having been to some LANs in the US, etc. I can tell some tales about the state of PCs shipped abroad :( (fortunately not mine).

Both the CPU and the GPU are 'bolted' with a custom hard tubing setup. I'll drain the whole loop and fill the case with packing peanuts and padding, and I've even got a whole box of silica gel packets to store in with the case to hopefully stave any moisture if any gets in. But I've also got the fortune of still having the cases original packing and box. So I've confidence in it. That and some damn good insurance should they **** it up. Fingers crossed!

That's the right approach. I always overdo the packing on items in I sell online, I used to work for a transport company notorious for losing or breaking parcels! I recently sold some RAM, the buyer reported it was fine but looked like it had been kicked around the depot. That box plus the internal packing should be fine.

Who else remembers the predictions that Turing would be short lived? :). Two years at least then.Still gone fast!

Haters. They were upset that NVIDIA over priced the cards (I agree they did), be-littled the products, touted AMD to be their holy saviours (who decided to release a product line a year later and bend over their fanbase too :D)...

I main gripe with NVIDIA at the moment is not allowing us to output 10bit colour and that we have to choose between 8 and 12bit. With HDMI 2.1, this is going to be VERY annoying as most TVs and AVRs are aiming towards 40gbps 10bit 120hz as their maximum through their HDMI ports (Denon, Marrantz, LG, Samsung, Sony).

However I have to give NVIDIA credit in that they this generation have shown a competitiveness with AMD. Any small AMD positive, they match. For example, the sharpening from AMD. Nvidia release within a couple of months a competitive filter which offers the same performance over more games.

If NVIDIA can do the following 2 things this GPU release:
1. 10bit colour option
2. Allow for some video upscaling RTX tech like the NVidia shield has for 1080p content

then I will happily give them my money again. If they can't offer those things.. I'll wait to see what AMD offer. However I worry AMD will only just about match the 2080ti which is not enough for 4k/120 gaming.

The rasterisation power has to match HDMI 2.1.. if it doesnt, I struggle to see the point of paying a premium for the HDMI 2.1 chipset.
