NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I think that's unlikely as no current PSU can output to that socket. And 600W on a two-slot GPU? Come on! The article is incorrect in saying that it's the same as two 6 pin sockets. If it is true there will have to be an adapter that takes two (or more) 8 pin plugs.
And we all know from experiences that bundled adapters usually look **** :p, who's gonna be first on the market to make 12pin sleeved cables haha!

Because recently the generational upgrades also came with larger and larger price tags. Top of the line cards which used to be £450-500 are now £1200-1300. A lot of people don't remember the good old days when you'd have expected a 100% performance each generation at the same price range, which made the previous generation completely obsolete.

Can you list out a few of those generations where there was a 100% increase for the same price tag? Please.

I didn't follow my own wisdom this time.

I always say to people asking "should I buy x or y for yet unreleased product" to wait for the unreleased product to be released then buy what's needed".

I knew I needed a PSU refresh (It's about 10 years old) as I was going to buy a 3000 series card. As I was doing a case upgrade I thought to buy the PSU before the card.

Might end up regretting that now...

780 Ti was £600. 2080 Ti is £1200.

What? That doesn't answer my question. You said there were generations where you would get a 100% performance increase for the same price. I am asking you what generation of cards were they?

And just an FYI. The 2080Ti AIB cards started at $999. The 780Ti cards started at $699.

EDIT: Correcting error as spotted by @Razor Time
