Well, found my next car ;).....you can keep the speedtail

Insane machine that promises to take out what was wrong with the F1 (my favourite car) and improve the good bits. Plus a proper manual gearbox!

I'm sure the rear will grow on me but it's a little jarring to see that fan

Yeah, the fan is a bit weird. I love the compactness of it and the cleanness of the bodywork. Engine innovation is really interesting too.

Watched the Harry's Garage video earlier. As I said in the other thread, it's refreshing to see a supercar that isn't all about numbers and track times, and is aimed at just being enjoyable to drive. A manual gearbox for Christ's sake! Who remembers those?

Would certainly be on my lottery win wishlist.

The way he's opinionated yet with regards to the traditional petrol head, also right, rings with me. He's sold one to me for sure, his choices like exposing the heatsink in the headlight make so much sense. Nothing is frivilous in the design, I just need that lottery win now :D

Looking forward to seeing one in action to see if the product matches the marketing at this point.

Quite liked his engineering approach - blending old school yet embracing what was the best tool for the job - aside from the hatred of touch screens - which I share as far as moving some of the more immediate controls such as volume and AC, etc. to but overall they are good things and make other functions like satnav input much better.

Its a functional design, no crap. So nice after what the mainstream has become and even a lot of supercars.

He asked potential buyers what gearbox they wanted and all but one said a manual, so thats what they used. Just goes to show people dont actually want autos in performance cars.

Catchpole's vid is quite good too, although they're obviously all covering the same stuff.

I think the intimacy of the man himself is on a whole different level. The fact that he's stood there, speaking to all these journos and answering all their questions is testament to how involved he is and how passionate he is about his baby. The fact he can also rattle off so many little details about a car he built decades ago is also remarkable. Catchpole's vid reveals loads of little things about the F1 I'd never heard of before either, like using the roof of the car as a resonator for the induction sound, it's all rather fascinating how this man builds cars.

If I had the money I'd be all over this like a rash, few car manufacturers are in this league, the two that spring to mind are Horacio Pagani and Christian Von Koenigsegg.

I love the underpinnings of the car, its got all the correct ingredients to what makes an incredible car and one full of soul. However I am not sure on the looks, but I bet it drives like nothing else.

Given the cars people on here are buying these days I thought you weren’t joking!

I do like it. However I guess it’s relatively easy to design and build something like this, with relatively minimal constraints. I’d like him/them to do it on a more affordable level to really push the design limits and innovation. I’m not saying £50k but even £150ish perhaps, maybe less, you get the idea.

pretty much my thoughts too.

maybe in a different colour! I like most of it other than the fan at the back :) that looks a bit.. dyson :D

What really intrigues me about this car is how similar it is to the Mclaren F1 in many many design areas. I know GM is the original designer so there would always be influences, but to the extent that it's almost a tweaked/updated copy in some areas. It's that close that, I would've thought Mclaren would've potentially had something to say about it...

Love listening to Gordon discuss the car with Catchpole/Metcalfe/Harris

He really is laser focused on making this thing incredible

I'm sure he will succeed

How can they. Its all brand new parts and GM doesnt need to have access to the origional designs to recreate it.

I think GM owns the patent on the seating arrangement so can build around that. Did notice the steering wheel looks very similar to current McLaren cars.
