2500k @ 4.6ghz, 980ti and 16gb ram. It defaulted to high for me but have knocked it down to medium, will test low later.

Ah great - I should be ok then, probably quite similar machines from a performance front.

This might actually be the most painful and convoluted install ever. Three and a half hours in, and 60GB is done Decompressing the files seems to be taking more time that downloading them...

I'm now preloaded with the 1GB available for xbox game pass users. Nice green play button, which if pressed says "too early". One can dream

Interested to see what a 7700k and Vega 56 can do at 1080p. On a freesync 75Hz monitor so hoping for a smooth experience!

Ha! I'm just gonna turn my pc on in the morning, hit download on Steam, go to work and play it in the evening completely stress free!

Good luck with that, it's highly likely Steam will just download the 1GB launcher like the MS Store does.

Steam is 4am utc.

I'll set it downloading before I leave home then remote into it to check on whether it downloads the launcher and needs a further download or not.

Just learnt a lesson - don't plug a usb device in while it's downloading - made mine freeze, had to restart the game, but luckily started from where it left off.

Dropped down by 50gb when plugged in my old wingman controller.....but disaster averted as above on the restart.

Mine stopped updating after I downloaded 16gb (because I told it to) then when I relaunch I have more options like graphic settings and it lets me play. Does that means it's streaming the data? I'm not entirely sure how to carry on downloading.

Despite being minimised when it was downloading it's also running my GPu at 100%.

I'm running a 4770 equivalent Xeon and it's perfectly smooth with my Vega 56 at 1440p on the default 'High-end' settings. GPU usage at 99% mind, and occasional high fans.

@phil-k Other than not having to deal with microsoft store and potentially having all your purchases in one place if you are a heavy steam user, apparently no difference. All steam will do is launch the launcher anyway.

Advantage of MS store is play anywhere, multiple family instances playable concurrently.

I haven’t used any yokes, but from others I get the impression that the honeycomb yoke is significantly better.
