NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

We see games "using" loads of VRAM but wouldnt you need to compare a 10gb 3080 to a 20gb 3080 to note any effects?

Yes, but we can already do that in order to validate the data by using a Vega card with HBCC. For example:

And if you want to take my word for it, as I can't record it anymore, it also makes a massive difference in Greedfall, going from heavy stutter on streaming swaps to smoother than a baby's bum.

Looking at the leaked slide, the little un is going to be so hyped about getting 2x performance in Minecraft for only 5-10 years worth of his pocket money. :D :p

Do we know when the reviewers typically get the new cards to bench? I would nowadays rely mostly on GamersNexus given their level of analysis. I wouldn't want to throw money down before seeing the thorough benchmarks (particular around whether VRAM is now important), so the "benchmarks" release date (as best can be determined) would be more important for me than the actual release date.

i'd say reviewers already have the cards but unable to test because of no game drivers, and are under strict nda contracts

ppl misunderstand, the compression tech is for bandwidth compensation. it won't do anything for the lack of vram.

Was there some compression tech meant to be included in the 3000 series that would help with VRAM usage? I thought I heard something about that a while back. However, if that was the case then why the **** would the 3090 need so much VRAM compared with the 3080?

There was talk of Tensor Memory Compression, IIRC moores law is dead mentioned it, then afterwards mentioned that it most likely won't be on gaming cards. But who knows!

If the 3080 does 4K ultra @60fps on Cyberpunk, will people then say that 10GB is in fact enough?

It would be enough for Cyberpunk. Btw avg fps means little. you have to see frametime graph, that's the important part.

that guy has no credibility.

New leaks! German reviewers, not sure it's real tho. Text looks fake but I don't know if it's based on something real. I'll lean on the side of most likely fake. Will keep it up just in case.

Well if the 8gb does have something like HBCC then I may just go for that. I have an Intel Optane SSD and can just upgrade to 32gb RAM (been wanting to for MSFS 2020). Job done, at least until next gen anyway :D

Maybe this is a fake and its 4X as leaked before,so you can get 40FPS! :p

Most PCs are still going to be bottlenecked,as many don't use that fast DDR4 and have slow main drives. The thing is consoles are very flexible, and its easy to shuttle stuff in and out on the fly. For example the PS4 GPU had certain ways of directly addressing the CPU without going over the bus.

They did with the first Titan, which was realistically the GTX580 successor at double the price!

RX6300XT then?? :p
:D

Anyone know when the next gen NVidia Hopper cards are due.

Is it worth waiting for the GTX 4090 wallet buster.
Doubt it will be for another 18 months at least. If I was you I would just wait for the next Titan, anything less would not be enough, not like you Titan RTX SLI is a slouch ;)
