NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Not all profit is greed (I'll say it again). But sometimes it is.

It depends where that margin is going, and it has to factor the complex effects of being a publicly listed company.

I would always prefer to invest more heavily in R&D, fabbing capability or adding to the warchest. I see this as a way to make your company as valuable as possible for the long term, but it doesn't factor that shareholders want short term gains. And without shareholders, you're obvious stuffed as a publicly listed company.

Tricksy.

EDIT: It is one of the few things that IMHO Elon does well. Ignores short term gains to drive rapid growth, focusing on the underlying technology. You can't argue that Tesla and SpaceX have achieved quite amazing things for publicly listed companies!

Thats a £1999 card if I have ever seen one!

Disappointing though that there are no VirtualLink on ASUS, GBT and MSI cards, it seems
If anyones gonna break the $2000 mark it will be Asus!

The Asus ROG RGB POSEIDON EX SX Special Triple slot Triple fan edition!

Says you. I can (and have) look to any number of academics who are piling up to decry the current model of prioritising "shareholder value" above all else.

Haha well there you go then, *academics* say it's bad therefore it's bad. Nothing to do with some academics seething jealousy at the successful at all. A good read on this is Mises "The Anti-Capitalist mentality" to see why academics just can't stand capitalism.

But sometimes consumers see through that crap and make the decision that you are greedy. And sometimes they're right.

Everyone in the world is greedy, such as the people wanting a huge GPU performance leap for less money. Capitalism is the system which makes greed work for all. Communism is the system where people's greed only works for the few.

Well that's a massively general blanket statement if ever there was one! What's a huge leap? less money than what? Why is it greedy to expect more for your money? etc etc.

For real?

Hope to get more for your money yes, be happy when you get more for your money yes, but to expect to get more for your money is indeed greedy. No one owes you free stuff mate, it's greedy not only just to ask for it but to expect it too.

Going back to my Orchid Righteous 3D Voodoo card, if we expected no increase for no extra cost a Geforce GTX 2080 Ti, would have launched at around about £800,000k. :D

So, yes you are having a laugh.

...8gb is very disappointing for the 3070. To have no bump in ram from the 1070 is mental.

I'm not sure how long 8gb will last due to the new consoles.

I really thought we would see at least 10gb, ideally 12gb on the 3070 and upwards.

i guess the only saving grace for that card now is if it is cheap...
