NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

As I commented in another thread, history will look back at the 2080Ti as a lemon.

£1200, only 30% faster than a 1080Ti and now beaten by a sub-£500 card only two years later.
Wait for the benchmarks before you jump in with the hype it might be a lot faster in raytracing only which is still a gimmick i turn it off.

And according to rumour there's not that many 3080 cards to go around

No, I think 3080 will be fine, it's a cut-down die and likely the target in the first place. 3090s will be the rare ones. And of course worse for the 3070 since that's closer to a full die of its own chip as well (but obviously not rare). I guess there's a big ? surrounding GDDR6X and its availability though, so maybe it hits from that angle.

I think its fair to say that 2080TI on the bay is not going to go for more than £500ish.
Most listings ending soon have 0 bids at around £600.
And those who have bids, the last bids were 29/30 August.

Unfortunately, Im one of those guys lumbered with a 2080Ti :) Thats the way it plays sometimes.
join the club mate when the new cards come out what do you think they will sell for on ebay 300 quid maybe?

Will be snapping up an EVGA 3080 as soon as available. I was tempted with a 3090 but I really don't think it warrants the price over the 3080 at all. I game @ 1440p so 3080 looks perfect

i have a 4k 60hz monitor a 3080 will be more than enough its 33 teraflops a 3090 is 36 3 teraflops more for double the price.

33? uhm look again its 29tflops

3070 = 20 tflops
3080 = 29 tflops
3090 = 36 tflops

The 3080 is definitely the value 4k card here and the 3090 is targeted entry level 8k gaming

Mad to think a couple of months ago people were buying cards like the 2080ti strix for 1400-1500£. Now they're worth maybe 350 tops assuming the 3070 is actually faster across the board and not just in dlss and rt situations.

I think people would rather use them as a paper weight or a doorstop than let them go for that price.

In certain rt, open world next gen ported games yes, imo. Which is the point of it.

A nvidia rep jumped on reddit earlier today and posted a message saying he believed that the difference between pcie3x16 and pcie4x16 is only a few percent on a RTX3090.

Of course there are still other system issues Intel owners can run into. if the 3090 is fully saturating pcie3x16 and you have a Nvme drive that us streaming data with RTX I/O / DirectML, then there are systems out there that can theoretically run out of lanes and force the GPU back down to x8. I know my Z390 system I had previously had this exact same issue where it cannot support a x16 GPU and NVME drive with both running full tilt and it would force the GPU into x8.

So when you look at it in isolation, maybe pcie3x16 is ok for a 3090 but wheen you consider the suite of features and your system as a whole, then pcie4 is recommended to avoid any bottlenecks
