NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

rumours are navi’s are going to have 16gb of vram so I’m guessing the ti/supers will be there to cover amd off on the vram front

So they’ll try and sell the non ti’s/supers with less memory until amd show their range

Did you notice though that the 16GB 3070Ti is using GDDR6 memory compared to the 3080 which is using GDDR6X memory.

It certainly has me confused. I was all in for a 3080 yesterday and today I read about a 3070 Ti with 16Gb VRAM. I can't imagine nvidia letting this out perform a 3080 so it surely wouldn't out price it. I may sit on the fence for a bit and see what news comes about. There's also the nasty habit of shortly after a card release the game bundles come out. Surely there will be a Cyberpunk nvidia bundle.

The Nvidia cards you get Watch Dogs Legion with it

they are listing the 3070 as using GDDR6 too though so I wuoldn't read too much into that. The whole listing could be bogus of course.

The 3070 here will have 8GB of 14GHz GDDR6
The 3080 here will have 10GB 19GHz GDDR6x and the 3090 24GB of 19.5GHz GDDR6x

So a 3070ti with a decent shader clock boost and 16GB of 14GHz GDDR6 is feasible, and probably a better option for a lot of people. A 3080ti with 16GB-20GB of 19GHz would be better still if the price is right and the thermals + noise are kept in check. Probably be more than I can afford though.

That rear fan is going to foul a lot of DIMM slots.

Eh? The 3090 is no larger than a lot of Pascal or Turing third party cards. It's shorter than my 1080Ti.

The 3080 is relatively tiny, only 285mm long and dual slot.

Both should fit in any decent case.

Sorry I was more concerned with the airflow diagrams..

Now is a question of whether it's worth waiting to see if cards with more vram get released soon or soon after the launch, or will it be hard to get one by then.

Difficult choice

Will my Ryzen 5 3400G be ok with the new 3080 cards?

Also, what time on the 17th does everyone expect these to be availble for order? I really don't want to miss out

3400G will be a big bottleneck, you will need a 3600 to get the most out of the 3080. Expected to be up for order on the 17th yes.

This is one reasons why am going to hang onto my 2080ti till i see what happens with the prices & stock

According to some on here the prices on them currently are placeholders.....apparently it would make less sense to just have them listed as "Price TBA" rather than watch the prices rise as release gets closer. Placeholders my arse.
