NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Will ocuk be stocking fe cards or is that only an nvidia direct order kind of thing? My first time getting a card on release and my first fe card.
Nope. Only direct from nvidia website for FE.

For me it is between that and the Zotac. Just need to see reviews to make up my mind.

No. Few videos comparing some things but no real details.
Yeh, i'm still scheptical to be honest. I'm considering flinging my 2080Ti on the bay (as i'm sure many are) due to the rumours of "the 3070 matching 2080Ti performance" and "The 3080 being 2x as fast as the 2080Ti"
Heard it before though and turned out to be total BS

When I see a video of a 3070 happily running COD MW maxed out with RTX enabled at 3440 x 1440 playing 80-130fps, then i'll believe it

Depends how much stock comes in by that date and how fast they sell. I can see some popular brands might become preorder within minutes.

Plus I cant see every model from every manufacturer being available right from day 1. EVGA are normally quite slow with their FTW and hydro copper cards and they tend to follow weeks after the more vanilla cards.

Yeah it'd be great to get some indication at some point between now and then from OCUK to forum members which cards they'll have decent volumes of on launch day.

DF already did a video on the 3080. It will definitely be a good chunk faster. I also don’t see what is surprising about the 3070 matching or beating the 2080Ti. Has happened many times before, unless you are new to PC gaming and only purchased Turing, you should know this.

Do we know when the NDA or whatever it is will be lifted? I assume we will have *some* time to see reviews before choosing to buy on launch day?
Don’t know yet. It may literally be on the same day some hours before. I hope it is a day or two before however.

£600 de value of 2080ti second hand. Previous unbelievable prices going on ebay. I'm keeping my 1080ti and will put it in another machine. Looking forward to a 3080 myself as my main pc upgrade.

Same, im hoping its a few days before so reviewers can post their benchies. I'll decide from there which card i want if any!

Not so bad on my 2080, i bought it secondhand but unused and only going to lose around £150 at most i think. Gotten 9 months use out of it and losing minimal amount is okay, i can accept that. Might even keep it for the wifes machine if shes lucky :p

He referred to it as the flagship before introducing the 3090 from the oven. I think it was part of the act...

The only thing that positions the 3090 as a workhorse card would be the price. If nVidia really wanted to position it as such it would have a different naming convention. It's a gaming card for those who want the very best.

It also supports studio drivers like the Titans, and Quadros on their spec sheet for the 3090.

The ram issue depends how long you want to keep the card a year or two you should be fine, 4 years plus then you more likely will have a problem.

At this price it's easy for me to keep it only 2 years and buy the 4080 next time if it's any good. Likely be able to purchase both for less than the price of a 3090.

WHEN can we expect reviews? Surely before the 14th?

I'll be happy if a 3080 does give 4K 60 in games like cyberpunk and watch dogs, but I'm not surprised if it struggled.

Buy a 3080, and just before 4080, sell the 3080, buy a 1080ti or a cheap 2070s maybe even a 2080ti for a cheapo tide over card, any of those cards will pack a punch for years to come, ok lowering setting probably but still more than enough performance from years of tiding onself over between releases for maximum return.

Exactly this. Even better if one sells it 3-4 weeks before the 4080 you will likely get £400-£500 back.

To me, the announcing of the 3080 as the "flagship" is clearly because they want it to represent the high-end of gaming in the mind's eye of the userbase. The 3090 is being marketed as a niche product, something that is in price and performance terms individual and seperate from the main gaming lineup that fulfils not only a gaming role but also professional content creation and science work.

You see I could have gone along with this until you see every AIB has 3 or more variations and there is even an all pink one called "gaming girl".

Any idea when current 20xx models will start to drop in price on the Nvidia website. Outgoing models are still full price on the website and more expensive than the new ones.

They never do as there are always people who want them for various reasons. As stocks start and run low they start going up in price.

If previous launches are any indication we might have one or two leaked a few minutes before ordering time. In the past I have ended up them being out of stock before I have had chance to read enough reviews.

It will probably be the 14th bud. I imagine NDAs are in place til then and it is the norm unfortunately. We might get a leak prior though and I would love to see something like FS2020 being compared.
