NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

If we pre order on the 17th we wont have a delivery date right away, even then under DSR we have 2 weeks to return, surely we pre -order, watch the reviews and then return as necessary, why not pre-order blind?

I didnt think they was pre-orders?

however you describe it, we would have a clear window from receipt of 2 weeks, gives plenty of time to look at review, hopefully AMD get their act together and drop info during that period

Yeah, as far as I'm aware (and what MSI said) there are no pre-orders. I think the 17th at 2PM is the date you can outright buy them.
It's really not clear is it? so on the 17th does anyone know if you place order you will get the card friday 18th which would mean ocuk get stock in some point in next week or so?

That is such a daft post. You are talking about 3 generations as recent as 2017 where the prices are the same for each release and you get a performance bump. The 20 series bucked that trend significnatly. It isn't 20 years of inflation here or anything. It is markup pricing and still higher than it shold be.

I dont see any problem with the prices of these cards. Your getting a lot more performance for the same or less than previous gen prices

Think I'm going for the Zotac. I was going to wait for AMD but I think I might just jump.

Really they need to get some solid info out before the 17th or they are going to lose out on a lot of potential sales. If they do give out some info before then and it looks good I may hold off. If they don't I'm going Nvidia.

Nvidia are claiming the 3080 can do that though. I do think that it is a bit OTT going for a 3090 unless you are gonna use it for professional use as well.

Better to get a 3080, pocket the change and then upgrade again to a 4000 series when it's out or even a 3080 super with more ram if needed.

Of course it's your money and you do what you like with it.

Are they? Maybe for every game out now but what about the next 2 years?

And is that 4k 60fps rock solid with RT on?

Going to be gaming on a 120Hz screen as well so some fps between 60 and 120 would be nice.

But yeah, you are probably right about the 3090 and going 3080 now then upgrading next year.

I do t care about card 'classes', only the performance and the cost.[/QUOTE]

You must be pleased then as huge performance gains at the same or less price

But pre order/order what? pre order a vanilla AIB, a top of the range AIB and a FE 3080 so pay for three cards, then read reviews and return two cards (or even all three as you realise you do need the 3090 afterall which isnt out until the following week?

And what happens if the AIB you pick is the lemon card compared with other manufacturers but by the time you have read the reviews, all the other ones have sold out?

Would be much better if the reviews were all out the day before.

Each to own but they are coming out higher than previous 3 generations until the 20XX series, which got widley critised for being over priced. These new cards come out at the same MSRP to their 20XX series and people praising like we have the old pricing scheme back that has been in place for well over a decade. I am not even saying the price to perfomance isn't good tbh.

Nvidia could have just as easily released these as the 3080 & 3080Ti rather than 3070 & 3080 tbh and they would likely have shown 20-30% performance over previous gen with that naming, however this new pricing and naming level is pushing the whole product stack up a level and that is the point.

If ocuk has stock at 2pm when you order it then you will get it next day. If they have sold out your order will be a pre order and you will get it once the next batch arrives.

oh so they are getting stock in for the 17th then ready for next day shipping? I hadnt seen anything confirmed or said about it that was all

Strange that the 3090 doesnt have any extra ports, if you're using it for development or video you're more likely to want more than one HDMI port.
