The prices are stupid for psus at the moment
 
So pc part picker with my full set up including a 2080ti msi triple fan is rated at 464W the msi is rated at 250.

So if the 3080 is 320 that would put my pc wattage at 534w so that leaves me at least 100w head room

Good strategy
 
Man the hype for these new cards really carried me away. Having had time to think about it I think the sensible thing to do is take a deep breath and wait until after launch to see how things pan out before diving in.

Things I am worried about:

Coil whine.
How will I know the best card to buy before reviews are out?
Why should I trust only figures released from Nvidia?
Will there be problems with heat or some other defect?
What if AMD release a much better value card in a month?
Will 8GB / 10GB be enough?

What I have witnessed this week with regard to recent buyers of 2080ti's having their cards losing 2 thirds of their value overnight has knocked some sense into me. That is not going to happen to me. Waiting a few more weeks isn't going to do me any harm.
 
Going to wait until I've seen comparative benches between big Navi and Ampere and Ryzen 4000 launches and assess whether I need PCIe x4. Whether I need CPU/platform upgrade and what card is quickest for less than 1K in new AAA titles 4K ultra.

Likely, might be more than a month though. (You did say 'value')
No, I think longer down the line it may become a thing and you might regret that, but it depends on what you do with the card and the games you play.

Asus (and other vendors) must have been laughing all the way to the bank this last few months knowing the 3 series performance vs Turing.
