Asus usually show off their Strix version and other higher end versions 1st when launching a new Nvidia sku. Now they show their low end 1st.
Looks like "shots fired" at these new card not being much of an OC'er.

When the TDP is already 320W, how much more can realistically be expected?

All cards even the FE will overlock 30mhz so don't waste money on a pre overclocked card. They are only for lazy people who can't work afterburner or other overclocking software.
I'm going for the cheapest 3080 with the longest warranty and cooler.
Probably EVGA or Zotac as both do 5 years or 10 if you pay for it with EVGA.
No idea why other places don't offer 5 years. If you pay £650 for a GPU you want piece of mind it is going to be backed up if something goes wrong?
I reserve the right to pick another vendor though but lets face it with GPU's very little can be done to differentiate a card.

I think Nvidia directly will only sell the FE's.

Larger overclocks? Marginally better better but rarely if ever justifying the price.
Cards like those aren't just about the factory overclocks anyway. That's not why people buy them.
It's actually not even bad lol, people are over reacting.
If you go and look at the price number differences a cheaper GPU is not bad for a 2080ti owner.
The value loss of a 2080ti only matters if you were planning to sell your card and not buy another Nvidia card.
But if you are upgrading then it doesn't matter - yes your 2080ti is worth less but so is its replacement - the net dollar difference you have to pay in to upgrade is much lower than last gen. A 1080ti owner had to sell their card and then add $700usd to get an upgrade, but a 2080ti owner just adds $200 to get an upgrade after selling.
Sure if the RTX3000 were priced higher than RTX2000 then the 2080ti would be worth more but then you would also have more to pay in to get an upgrade.
Let's look at the housing market where this comparison works perfectly as well. Let's say tommorow the whole housing market drops 20% - suddenly everyone who bought in the last year will feel bad, until they realise the price doesn't matter if they are buying in the same market because their next property will be cheaper too.
