Hopefully as little as possible. Will hopefully be taking advantage of EVGAs step-up programme. Have 60 days left on it. Should be able to upgrade to a 3080 for minimum outlay hopefully.

I wasn't thinking about upgrading. My 1070 Ti is still OK for me at stock and it can overclock a lot if I want it to. I played Donkey Kong overclocking when I bought it (as you do) and it was limited only by the maximum power draw. It beat some overclocked 1080s in some benchmarks (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/foru...n-4-benchmark.18487976/page-206#post-28330031) If I undervolted it a little it would probably go higher. And it's very quiet, usually silent. It still does well enough for me, running it at stock and gaming at 2560x1440.

But...a 3070 at ~£500 (I'm estimating that a card with a really good cooler will be a little more expensive) looks tempting. I don't need it but I do want it and I can afford it. Well, I could afford a pair of 3090s. But I could reasonably afford a 3070 with a good cooler. But then I'd want a new monitor and NO! STOP RIGHT THERE! :)

2560x1440 144hz then with a 3070, perfect combo as the high refresh rate difference for me is just massive. 1070 vs 3070 will be pretty huge and you get a lot of card for that money as well.

You can get a decent display now of that spec for a few hundred vs £800 a few years back.

For me I want a 4k 32” 144hz display to really push a 3080 or a 3090. Once those are released I may decide to upgrade :).

I think these card with 16 gig of ram are made and sitting in nv hq could be wrong .

Is probably agree. They always have something up their sleeve.

I mean if say we saw a big navi card sit between a 3080 and 3090. Guaranteed there wouldn’t be much time before a 3080Ti showed up. Highly doubtful of that coming from AMD though.

Had a 2080s Aorus. Sold for £400 , the biggest hit I've ever taken (£749) paid, so a £350 upgrade as £750 is about my limit. Reference doesn't appeal and feel in the cheaper segment of the series partner models have toned it down abit, nothing like my last card.

I'm honestly not sure if I'm going for a 3070Ti or 3080Ti, I'd be prepared to spend up to £1k on the 3080Ti unless I can convince myself the 3070Ti is more value for money. I also will NOT be making the same mistake I did with my 1080Ti which was a "mini" card, the cooling is awful, full 3 fan setup this time around :)

I want to get he RTX 3080 just because. However, the rational part of me knows I won't be playing many games over the next couple of years, and I might be better off going for the 3070.

Even if I had the money, I'd only buy a 3090 if it was priced 30% higher than the RTX 3080. 10% for the extra VRAM and 20% for the increase in performance.

They need a resolution that has twice the pixels of 4K (8k is more than 4 times the pixels of 4K), the 3090 could probably handle that quite well.

The thing is that I'm fine with my 1070Ti and a 32" 2560x1440 75Hz monitor. 144Hz would be better, but ~£800 worth of better? I'm not feeling it. £800 isn't pocket change to me. I have spare money, but the reason I have spare money is because I stopped spending it on frivolous stuff.

I'd pay RRP or less, inflated prices is what got all th 2080TI owners in a fizz right now... so for me, RRP, and if they go up due to demand you sit back and wait the world won't fall about because you dont' have the latest GPU.

I'm on a 980ti with some bodged on fans to keep it running cool (had it so long the fans on the old cooler packed in) and looking at the 3070 at no more than retail. Interested in the power requirement for the 3070 actually as I "downgraded" from my 750w Corsair bronze rated PSU to a 80+ Plat Seasonic 650W last year - wondering if I'm about to regret that decision. It's been a VERY long time since even considering any GPU upgrade worthwhile given the mining debacle and the 2080 price hike.

I'm moving house though and every penny is going towards that atm, so very likely I'm going to have to wait until after Christmas when no doubt the gouging will be in full flow...

Yu'll be fine with that PSU I'd imagine dependat on what you're actually running elsewhere in teh system. I run one of those plugs in the wall and connect into that, you can pick them up for like 6 quid... just plug into the wall mate and PC into it, see what your actual draw is... you'll be surprised how low it is probably...

The difference between 60/75 and 144hz is huge for me even on non fps titles its vastly smoother. But then again if you have no reason to justify an upgrade and get a long just fine then there isn't much reason to spend.

I used to upgrade every time, now though i tend not too unless absolutely neccessary. Likely i may skip this gen. Have always wanted a 4k 144hz monitor so may wait it out for something of that spec to become reasonably priced, could be waiting a while though.
