NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Trying to work out my strategy for Thursday.

Do I use work PC, but then their firewall might block the purchase site.
Do I use phone? But screen might be too small and fidly.
Do I use my laptop, but then if internet goes weird.
Do I use Samsung DEX, then if internet goes I'll have data to go off, thereby getting an RTX3080?!

Anyone else got a strategy?

Any idea what the workload is?

I noticed the CPU cooler, was getting hotter and eventually matched the GPU temps.

notice how the cpu heatsink takes much longer to heat up? Yeah that cpu isn't doing much if anything LOL - that heatsink is heating up just from its fan sucking hot air coming out of the 3080

people with air cooled CPUs = TOASTY! AIO FTW

I’ve stream lined my process plus have redundancy and taken care of things that cost time.

I have been practicing, sad I know. :D Bring on Thursday.

Every latency adds up.

I'm wfh, multi monitor and multi tabs with gigabit internet so I can check stock of the cards I want in preference order then put in an order where I hope to have it the next day but in reality it will arrives in 2021.

If places (including OcUK) say in stock for delivery asap, does this mean they are 100% in stock?
Is there going to be conformation of the EVGA OcUK stocked card. At the moment its showing the picture of a FTW card but description & title says
‘EVGA GEFORCE RTX 3080 ICX3’

My strategy will be to hold on to any purchase. Find out where I am in the queue and just wait. The last time I left the queue it just cost me more money and time. I’ll just use my P620 which is about the same horse power as a gtx 580 but only uses 45 watts or so madness!

Wait for proper reviews, then wait for initial demand/gorging to die down, then wait for Amd to release/proper reviews. Then make an informed decision based on who offers the best bang for buck. Job done :).

Pretty much.

The next game I want to play which will require a high end card is Cyberpunk. Can easily wait til then as my 2080 seems to 4k/60fps most games I've thrown at it apart from RDR2

I have 30 Sweaty minutes before I got to work on Thursday to get it done. I feel your pain

That was my concern. I hope someone does a comparison between the FE cards and AIB cards, to see if there is any affect on CPU temperatures. I do wonder if people who use software that taxes both CPU and GPU simultaneously will see their CPUs thermal throttle.

How is this any different than the AMD cards that had blow through designs since the Fury cards, and also had big power draws. No one had issues with those. This hardly seems too different.

Even some of the AIB 3080 cards with triple fans, have cut outs in the backplate for the fan at the end to blow through.
