NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Please elaborate. Not sure what you mean :p

They just can't keep on adding those modules.. to make very big chips because there's a hard TDP constraint on consumer parts.. Intel's largest 4 module behemoth is rated at 500 W... some kind of fundamental shift would be needed..

But it's going to be extremely cost effective, no more exponential prices for those last few CUDA cores

Reckon you're bang on the money there
Nah, even if it is 5% better people will still buy. This is Nvidia we are talking about, not AMD :p

Nvidia make people desire their cards and want the latest, so it will still sell fast even if **** poor reviews relative to what was shown by Nvidia in their presentation.

Yeah I get that, still does not invalidate me thinking Hopper will turn out to be better than expected statement though? :p:D

I was all in for a 3080 founders card a few days ago. But thinking I'll skip it now after a few days of thinking about it. Or It'll have to do really well in the reviews later.

My 2080 is still great for 3440x1440 @ 120hz and that's a 215/220W card. 320W TDP is like 50% more heat dumped into my case and my room I could do without.
Exactly my thinking. I was looking at 3080 but might go for 3070 FE. I'm gaming at 1440p 120hz so 3070 might do me well or even try and get second hand 2080ti

From what I am reading the founders edition runs at 65c on FULL LOAD , if thats the case its pointless buying custom cards at such a high prices , I must admit I normally buy MSI Brand but I am not paying £829 for Graphics card that I can buy from NVIDIA direct for £650.00 that will run at the same speeds in my system as custom card.

Open air bench maybe. It's a massive heatsink.

Ambient inside the case is a lot higher once under load for a significant period of time.

true, if that's your personal expectation..as it can be made as arbitrarily low as possible :)

.. but leather jacket must have started spinning slides on 250% improvement over Ampere, he has got to take care of investors

I have a ferrari
"RTX 3080 you want..."

Oh yea, then reviews come out and show that is in very limited scenarios. Lol

At the end of the day, benchmarks notwithstanding, £649 for something that beats a 2080Ti in rasterisation by 20% is still absolutely outstanding and will get my money.
