NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I can see the 3090 prices being hiked up a far bit higher then even what the 2080ti were :(

Yup. I said about 500 pages ago that I was a realist. I'm still a realist. For me? the only path is the 3090 and besides another financial miracle? it ain't happening. Nor do I want it to. You wanna see the hifi gear I can get for that much money !

There was a very good reason why I chose to stick to 1440p and buy a better monitor than I had. I had a 70hz HP thing I'd had for 5 years. I replaced with a 144hz curved (same size, 32") with HDR. So literally every spec was an upgrade and I knew I would get at least 3 years out of the 2080Ti. Even better it wasn't even my money, so I wasted as much as I could :D

And there remains the question for me. How good is the 3090 going to be? at 390w dear lord it better part the red sea. However 300 pages ago I showed what my 2080ti was capable of in COD MW. And it was more than enough for me then and remains so. I'm so glad I bought another one now.

I'm not disagreeing just stating that despite the launch showing prices would be from $999 Nvidia's own card was $1199 and I'm not sure AIBs were ever available that cheap :p

So the feel im getting from bechmarks is the 3080 probably beats the 2080ti by about 30% at stock speeds rasterization and about double that for that RT at 70% better.

I think thats a fairly normal performance delta for a like for like card. It would be more appropriate still to compare the 3090 to the 2080Ti as theyre most closer price points.

i can see why this is a bitter pill to swallow for the 2080Ti users but this is just what happens at high end, you pay over the odds for hardware that's fater. And has less gains in the next generation. I think some of have forgot that.

People like me running a 1080 and suffererd a generation without any upgrades these are very attractive cards. Nvidia overplayed their marketing and you know what, whatever, it was always going to out very fast after embago day. The cards seem objectively good, they bring native 4k to the masses in modern games, and they add gamers new effects that look nice that can be upscaled in the absecenof raw power.

Ill be getting a 3080 but was annoyingly hospitalized on sat andkonly came out a major surgery yesterday, so camping stoes on a phone is kinda a no go right now

1usmus did his own benchmarking, the stock 350w 3080 is faster than a 320w 2080ti by 10-20%.

Not worth upgrading from a 2080ti to a 3080, its basically a side grade.

The 3080 and 2080 TI and not like for like, how can people not get this yet? The 3080 and the 2080 are like for like, as advertised throughout the Ampere launch.

PS get well soon! :)

I feel more gamers like me buy to specific price points rather than maintain awkward general gaps in model/variants in marketing year on year. A large part of the appeal of thw 3080 is cost.

And thanks, i have 3 epidurals in right now to manage post op pain, its mad

Been informed by an online etailer, "While the official release date is the 17th September, We're not expecting any stock until early October and even in October it will be low supply"

Doesn't look good.

So to me sounds like it's a pre order date not an availability date which if the case is very misleading to say the least.

Nvidia's desperate to get ahead of consoles & RDNA2 so we see it's just another paper launch

Lol. So faster and half price? Glad I skipped turding :D

Well worth the upgrade, especially if you had you sold your 2080Ti before the price plummeted. Brand new tech, new warranty, new shiny, better performance and most importantly even better RT performance.

Your bias keeps showing with posts like the above as by far you have been the one championing RT and DLSS on this forum. A card that is much better at providing RT/DLSS than a 2080ti comes along and you say it ain’t worth the upgrade? Embarrassing again for you sir. No consistency, just emotional and bias filled posting as usual.

:D:D wow where's that? US? Yeah if what they guy was saying was the truth and I have no reason to doubt him as they want sales then there's going to be lots of upset people today, Yes a paper launch lol.
